1993 Maxima SE 5 Speed Transmission swap for 6 Speed.

Has anyone swapped a 5 speed for a 6 speed transmission in a 3rd Generation Maxima SE 5 speed? If so what 5th or 6th Generation Maxima Transmission works?

it will not work since your Maxima is a VE30 engine and they only use exclusively the 5 speed with open diff. Since the 5 gen are VQ engines and the transmission is bolts up to VQ engine from 1995-2005 that's it.

Why would you even care to do this - what benefit do you think this would provide?

I *almost* sold it late last year after I bought my Mazda 6. In fact, I wrote up an ad for it and cleaned it all up and took these pictures to post it for sale on CL:

I couldn't quite bring myself to post it and get relatively so little money for it that it wouldn't be worth it to me to give up such a clean black on black VE 5 speed.

It's just been sitting in my backyard this year unfortunately on the trickle charger and I start it up once a month or so. I did notice last time I started it up that the clutch master cylinder is leaking and pedal went to the floor. I need to replace that but just haven't yet. Other than that it's in tip top shape still despite sitting. I have a literally brand new rebuilt VE for it in my garage I want to stick in it hopefully next year.

Let's all agree to start calling them SE 5 speeds and not forget why we are here.
