Tesla style head unit

Anyone would go for it? 🤔

https://phoenixandroidradios.com/col...xima-2016-2017

Xydehead posted that it would cost over 3000 to get android auto

https://maxima.org/forums/8th-generation-maxima-2016/699737-2018-oem-head-unit-aka-controller-assy-master.html

this option seems cooler but then again it’s probably for those die hard tuners.

$640 VS $3000 for OEM nissan’s looks expensive? Yes, there’s labor involved but I think it shouldn’t be that expensive.

i mean i was expecting the intallation and head unit all together would be rather expensive in general. i think with labor it could be around 1500 maybe but i'm not too sure. also can you change the language of the head unit?

I normally have concerns over things like this.
Obviously the Nissan apps would go away, but who wants to subscribe to that crap anyhow (Nissan Connect/XM bricked my navigation and XM subscription due to a "clerical error" 60 days after a service). Navigation is probably better (Google Maps?), but requires a persistent network connection.
The biggest issue is support - if this thing dies, you're screwed.

Yes if it’s dies it would suck. Seems like it’s running Android so I imagine it has WiFi capabilities if not then Android phone can be paired via Bluetooth to sync it or mirroring.

Costs to be 1st. Lets lay in the weeds and see how it holds up in other cars Nice layout. What resolution is it pushing? In map view?

This company based in Los Angeles. I might visit them to find out more about this unit. If it’s plug and play I’ll get it on the spot.

do they have them in stock in California? I just found out that satellite radio and voice control does not work. So Sirius XM would need to be streamed.
