Question Front passenger wheel getting stuck

Hi all. Hopefully I️ can find the answer here since my mechanic still hasn’t been able to find it. My car’s passenger front tire is being held or something isn’t realeasing it while driving. The car can be felt being held back when driving and if the gas is let go of the car comes to a stop when in reality it shouldn’t coast. The disc and caliper are extremely hot and smells like something was burning after driving the car around. The other tires are hot as well but the passenger front if you spit on it you can hear and see the boiling bubbles when the others that doesn’t happen. The front calipers and front passenger hose has been changed and the isssue persists. Any help as to what should be looked at?

caliper pistons stuck? A mechanic should of picked that up, pull the wheel and unbolt the caliper while on the lift and put the car in neutral and if it spins freely it is the caliper hung up!

Sounds like a bad ABS controller or valve body to me if the caliper and line have already been changed. It should be throwing an abs code though

Only code being thrown is cat’s performance under threshold P420 if not mistaken. I️ will check the valve body but in that case wouldn’t all wheels or at least the front driver side be acting the same way?

Yeah, if caliper and hoses are replaced, it's the hydraulic valve system. Something may not be letting fluid release out of the corner. Back in the day we called them Combination valves...but on newer cars, that's so much more advanced then the old master cylinders and combo valves. Plus with ABS and traction control there's so much electronic going on there too. Man, I hope they resolve this for you definitively, would love to hear what it was.

Tomorrow I'm taking it in to the shop to get it looked at again. Hopefully it gets fixed. I will mention the hydraulic valve system for them to keep in mind though. Thanks for the advises. Cheers.

Besides the ABS controls....Any other recent work done on the car? I saw a pair of ebay brake pads do that once, as they were made just a little too thick. Eventually the wore down and worked (not recommended)
My second thought, where did the caliper and hose come from, you are right that shouldn't be the issue if you replaced them but sometimes new parts are no good right out of the box. That is the most common cause of this issue...and sometimes a bad caliper slips through the factory.

Update: I have changed as mentioned at first the calipers and pads. after that i replaced the rotors (small things to see if the tire stopped dragging) nothing worked and the tire still dragged and it smelled like burnt pads after a while of driving it every time. I went ahead and replaced the brake hose for the passenger side and when i went to bleed it it barely bled with the new hose on. After driving it, nothing had changed. Still a dragging front passenger tire. ABS module has been replaced over the weekend and the tire still drags. something is causing the caliper to seize. All i can think of now is the master cylinder but before i do that should i take the new caliper and ask for a replacement to see if the new one i bought might have come faulty from the factory?

you must have a lot of money! All you do is change parts, not find the problem! Sorry if I am rude but you have to admit you are just quessing at this point and changing whatever comes to mind! you said my mechanic still hasn’t been able to find it I would find a better mechanic,

It ended up being the calipers. The valve wasn't disengaging which put pressure on the rotor. Those calipers were brand new which is why it was the last thing I suspected. Hope you fix your issue 🤘

this problem was happening before I bought new calipers rotors n brakes. Now that I have it new it does it same thing on one wheel which is the front passenger wheel. Before it was front n rear pass wheel.

The wheel doesn't move after a while and the car makes strange noise and it smells like burning brakes badly

Check the rubber brake line on that wheel and make sure it's not pinched or twisted. When I bought mine, they had just redone the brakes and had twisted the rubber brake line from the strut bracket to the caliper when they put the caliper back on. It caused the caliper to not release completely and did exactly what you're experiencing. That line could also be bad internally, causing the caliper not to release since the fluid pressure stays instead of being released.

Oh ok thanks so much man. These people made me buy a new master cylinder stating it was that but I also buy 4 new brake lines just in case but now I will just have him change the line and see if that changes bc that's just one wheel that's troubling and causes the car the move slow

Check dust boot if it need changing, change it
And for sure you'll be fine
But this is waste of money doing it like this for me ive change dust boot and inner o ring cause dust boot was shreaded and having no problem with piston but there was rust inside piston that I've cleaned it and no rust outside thank goodness and iam ok
