Avoid Wayzata Nissan and My Car: 1n4aa6ap8gc410995
Hello,
I wanted to provide a warning to those living in Minnesota to avoid purchasing my old car, of which, I consider to be a lemon.
Year/Make/Model/Trim: 2016 Nissan Maxima SR
Colour/Int Colour: Pearl White/Black Interior
Plate: 287XDJ (Minnesota Plate)
VIN: 1n4aa6ap8gc410995
I sincerely hope no one experiences the heartache I endured with my ownership of this car, and the unhelpful dealership, Wayzata Nissan (Walser).
I returned the vehicle to the dealership as I could not deal with the problems with the vehicle any longer. At one point, I was visiting the dealership once/week.
I especially wish to mention the poor practises I witnessed/experienced at Wayzata Nissan (Walser) when I would have it serviced. After I had my vehicle returned to me, the vehicle was often dirty, with grease in the interior, had scratches and dust in the interior (as if the window was left open)
Moreover, I am upset that sales personnel would often call me, asking me if I wanted to "Upgrade" every time I would schedule a service appointment. I noted to them that I had my car less than 6 months so please stop soliciting me to trade my "NEW" car when I schedule an oil change/service appt.
I feel some of the problems I experienced with this car had to do with the way the dealership handled the car, as whenever I would take it for a service, things seemed to get worse. I would also like to emphasize that when I purchased this car new, it was never detailed and there were leaves clogging the cowl, dirt in the interior and scratches on the exterior panels.
The worst part of dealing with this dealership was when I returned the car. The dealership threatened to WITHHOLD payment for my car to me until I provided them the spare key, which I forgot to bring AFTER they had received the title from me. I felt very threatened by them. The staff member who did this was named Tony.
Below is a brief list of the problems I encountered with my car.
These are problems SPECIFIC to my car that I attempted to have the dealer repaired:
Note: All brake calipers replaced and hoses. Cost $4,000 under warranty to replace all four brake calipers and a module. Also, the brakes feel a bit spongy now so it appears the brakes are not as good as before.
Outstanding issues that I did not have rectified:

These are problems SPECIFIC to my car that I attempted to have the dealer repaired:
- DANGEROUS: Both rear calipers are leaking brake fluid. I found it odd that the brake light did not illuminate on the dashboard.
- Clunking rear suspension (fixed, partially)
- Front dashboard speaker popping up (right ahead of the gauge hood cover)
- A-Pillar cover coming off (popped back into place by dealer)
- Rattles throughout the cabin
- Indentation in the soft upper portion of rear interior door (one side)
- Misaligned rear doors (so the curve does not line up with quarter panel (not fixed)
- Distortion in windshield (not fixed)
- Ticking steering wheel (not fixed)
- Crackling tweeters (not fixed)
- Vibrating/squealing brakes (not fixed)
Note: All brake calipers replaced and hoses. Cost $4,000 under warranty to replace all four brake calipers and a module. Also, the brakes feel a bit spongy now so it appears the brakes are not as good as before.
Outstanding issues that I did not have rectified:
- The Pearl White paint has faded in patches. The dealership has addressed some of the paint and body issues but it is appearing on new panels such as the bumper and parts of the roof/decklid.
- Ticking engine, sounded like a bad main bearing #1, especially noticeable in colder weather.
- Catalytic converter damage due to 2 bad O2 sensors
- Brakes were still spongy and vibrating
- Discolouration of dashboard leather above the speedometer/tachometer

As a used car buyer, thank you for this post. Sorry you had to go through all that, both with the dealership and the car.
I'm closing on a specific 2017 platinum deep blue pearl max with less then 10k miles. So far nothing I can see in the car history reports give me a cause for concern, but I'm planning to have a trusted mechanic (not from a dealership) examine it too. I'll alert him to the list of issues I have observed while lurking on this site, so thank you again for providing those details.

I hear you, but man, there are just too many problems here. A car like this should have never left the factory.
I've had cars with a bunch of little issues or one big one, but never a combination of everything above.
The last post I saw similar to this was on a BMW board, and it turned out the owner/driver was abusive to the car..
