Swirl Control Valve, P1130?

Hey Gang!

99 Cali Emissions SE with a P1130 code (first time) 212K

I see Swirl Control Valve in a lot of threads and Auto Help posts. It is actually called a Solenoid Control Valve (14956-31U01) as Nissan diagrams and parts lists don't have anything with Swirl.

AND.... The threads I read left me with more questions than answers and spread all over the place.

What have you done if you had this code (and worked)?

Thanks!

Bench test the solenoid. There is also a swirl control valve control vacuum check switch. It is on the intake resonator. If those test good, look for cracks in the hoses and possible vacuum leaks.

Thanks JS!

Sure enough I removed the MAF/Filter/Throttle Body connection stuff and found a vacuum sensor disconnected from a Y connector. (Flopping and not sure where it was even mounted.) Wiped the code and it hasn't returned and now it runs like it should.

Carelessness is why I hate having to pay anybody for the big stuff or in Winter, and have to work in the driveway.

This could have cause a lot of suspect and replaced emissions valves and the likes. Glad you put the caveat about the vacuum lines! It only takes one!

Nice! Easy fixes are great.

On a side note, 99 Cali emissions get a lot of bad flack but it's actually easier to work on. The vacuum setup is far more streamlined.
