I saw this also. I love his videos but in one of them he said that to replace the knock sensor on ourt Max's the intake must be removed. That is, as we all probably know is not true.

I just watched the video. Can't believe he knocked on the manifold and called it a plastic manifold....LOL That started in 2000 with the 5th gens...had to comment. Good video though. Thanks for sharing.

He's based in Texas, where rust isn't a problem. He might not know about the radiator support problems these cars have!

Also, did some 99's get a plastic intake? I know the late 99's have some parts from the 5th gen from 2000, and someone on here has a 99 full of 5th gen parts under the hood

Can't believe anyone gives this guy any credence. I have a 99 Max and a 2016 and there is no comparison. I love my 4th gen but to say the cars are terrible now is asinine.

I imagine that your 2016 Maxima is a much nicer car than your 1999 Maxima.

How many miles are on your 2016?

The unanswered question is can the 2016 be driven 200,000 miles or more before it has major expensive issues.

Another issue is how easily can a diy car owner do most repairs. The 1999 is servicable by experienced diy owners. Members have daily drivers with over 200,000 miles. They don't need to see a mechanic much.

It's possibe to buy an old 4th Gen maxima and also deal with deferred maintainence for a reasonable amount of money and effort.

I'm not as sure that the same could be said for a 2016 Maxima in 2036.

Not all members can afford relatively late model cars.

That's my car that he reviewed lol. A friend of mine went to the same college as that guy and was able to get in touch with him to get my car reviewed.

I know people on here have good things to say about 4th gens, but my experience hasn't been so rosy. Hard to judge a used car that I picked up with 160k miles on it already, but it's certainly been a lot of work. Do love driving it though.

Shrout1, we all have has our issues with our cars.
I know I've had my share as well.

I've caught up most of the deferred maintanence over the years. No I'm just dealing with occasional issues as they come up. I'm dealing with a clutch pedal adjustment right now. It's physically painful, because the adjustment is way under and inside the dashboard. I'm 6'3 inches tall, so it's difficult to get in there. My car has about 220,000 miles on it.

I try to overhaul entire systems if I do stuff. Like rebuild or replace the brake calipers and the brake system, the cooling system has all hoses replaced, radiator, waterpump. No summer worries. Everything under the uim has been worried on.

Sure it's a pita sometimes. But the car has lots of life left in it. I'm retired with limited funds. At least I dont feel deprived when driving it.

That's good! It certainly is a nice driving car Funny as I'm also 6'3" though my clutch still feels as good as it did when I bought the car 5 years ago. Doing the replacement in 2017 definitely helped

Yep, this car seems bulletproof. 97 manual, my first car. No problems in the 7 years owning it, though i've only put 40k miles on it. Just starting to do more preventative maintenance; motor mounts, struts, tran fluid... going strong at 160k
