HID headlight replacement

So yesterday I took my 09 to a local shop that I have done business with before to get my headlights replaced. I dropped it off and drove my wifes car to work. My mistake for not asking in advance but I'm thinking I know these guys, They'll treat me right. Maaaaaaaan these people call me and tell me my car is all ready and that it will be $158. I was like what??!! I was at work so I just said ok and hung up. When I get there later I asked why is it so freakin much? Dude pulled up some chart showing the prices for replacing bulbs, from halogen to xenon and on down the line. Now mind you, I bought my own bulbs to them. Dude had the nerve to say they actually didn't charge me the full amount. I said I could have bought a six pack and gone to my buddys house and done this in 30 minutes or less and that I was just trying to give them some business. Needless to say they have lost a customer. Just wanted to share this experience with the community. Also wondering if anyone else has been assaulted in this manner.

Never been assaulted in this manner as I always get an estimate before the work is done. What price point were you expecting? I could easily see hour and half of labor for this job, and since you knew this shop you should know their labor rate.

Honestly I didn’t think to hard about what they might charge. I just figured it’s about a 30 minute job at most. You’re just pulling back the wheel well and popping old out and putting new in. I figured they would get me for a full hour obviously. I guess I was thinking about 75 bucks so about half of what I paid.

What kind of bulbs did you put in. I had My 14 HID replaced with Phillips xtreme vision gen 2’s. These lights blow the factory out the water and looks so much better

I bought some HIDs on eBay. Not sure of the brand as I have thrown the packaging away. They are really bright though. My headlights are tinted and they really shine through well.

Oh ok. Cool. Mine are the factory tint on the sports. Nothing hard to shine through. My original factory bulbs are in another vehicle. If u ever replace your highbeams , the GTR ULTRA 2’s LED is the brightest and best out there. The light output is INSANE
