Burning smell from engine bay and vents
Burning smell from engine bay and vents
I have a 2012 Nissan maxima and this is my first car. It's been smelling like burnt oil or transmission fluid for the past 2 weeks. I took it over a rocky dirt road a couple weeks ago. I've also had the engine replaced at 170,00 miles due to camshaft bearing failure. Could this be my transmission going as well? Please help
so tell us a bit about your car, the model, the maintenance (oil changes, cvt fluid changes, radiator flushes, etc) and what actions you have taken to isolate the smell. Would be easier to help to know what you have done and not done!
Only reason Im asking for help is I don't have the money to pay a mechanic to do the work right now and I need to know if I can still drive this thing like it is or if I should throw it in the shop till I can pay for the work
Well, based on what you said, it seems that you need to check the fluid level of your CVT. those codes aren't good ones. BUT...you also say you see oil/fluid on the passenger fluid on the right side wheel well. This may be the oil filter, the power steering or even a seal on the right axle.
Check your fluid levels...including the transmission fluid when warm. If you can get under your car, take a look.
