Question rear view mirror with garage door opener

so I just bought a 2020 maxima sv and didn't realize that the rear view mirror doesn't have the garage door opener buttons (first world problems.. I know! ) can I buy a mirror off of eBay, or somewhere, with the buttons and get it to work with the car? assuming my car won't have the right connections?.. idk.

That's weird, the rear view mirror on my 2016 SV has the homelink buttons on it. Are you sure the car came with the OEM mirror?

It SHOULD work, if you have a compass in your mirror then you have power to it. Maybe you could find a friend that has a mirror with the Homelink®️ feature and try theirs. It is only held on with one torx screw and is easy to remove and install. If it works, then eBay is a good choice.

Looking at the 2020 brochure only the SL and SR trims came with HomeLink.

Huh, weird that they would remove such a basic feature offered in earlier model years. I actually like the one in my wife's Hyundai better than the one in my 2016 SV and wouldn't hesitate to try a different brand if it were an easy swap.

Failing that, I wonder if one salvaged from an earlier model year Maxima would be an affordable replacement?
