You can manually wire in an aftermarket gauge or some that plug into the 12v outlet source are fairly accurate

Sitting on your toolchest in your garage or waiting to be purchased from Ebay.

Why do you want a voltmeter?

With the Variable voltage control that the Maxima has, your voltage reading will be all over the place, at various RPM and load demand.

my alternator charging system isn't working correctly the output of the alternator Intermittently disappears and so I watch the voltage and when I see it drop from 14 something volts to 11.9 or 12 volts I know to stop driving, I'll do this until I get my charging system fixed
It usually starts working again
