Finished 5spd conversion. I love my car!

Finally got to drive it last night. Man this thing is fun! I had 5 people in my car and it stilled pulled as hard as just myself in the auto. I have one problem though. The six inch rubber hose that conects to the slave cylinder is cracked, and I'll have to wait till wednesday to fix it. Does anyone have a faster solution? I tried fixing the hose with some rubber tape and clamps around it, which worked for about 15 mins.....Or else I have to wait till wednesday to get the part....Btw the engine revs up much faster than the automatic. I don't mean in gears, just in neutral if you step on it. Anyone know where to get this hose in the nyc area?

did you get a new master cylinder or something? because this problem is quite common..... too much pressure from the mastery cylinder and breaks the slave cylinder. but for your info...you have to replace the whole slave clyinder...it's like 48 bux or something hehe..

I dont see why I have to replace the whole slave cylinder.....The hose detatches from the slave cylinder with just one bolt. I did call the dealer and they did tell me its 48 bucks.....weird...maybe they were selling me the whole slave cylinder?

im looking to get the conversion done sometime when my auto goes. how much did you get it done for, what was the down time, what kind of tranny did you get (rebuilt, new or junkyard), and did you have a hookup for the job? sorry for all the questions, but i gotta get some more info on the topic

Nope,,,the hose itself is 48 bucks....its not even the slave cylinder....well for now i bypassed it. i took the hose that plugged into that hose at the square metal block and ran it straight to the slave cylinder. so far no problems except one. the pressure in the line builds up too high and the clutch starts slipping until i open the top bleeder and let out some fluid. then it just sucks more fluid in after like a day or 2...its annoying...hopefully a new hose fixes this. To the others, i did the conversion myself, with the help of a few friends. It cost me about 1000 + tools, etc. I got it so cheap because chaz (cbr2) had another maxima that he took all the parts off of and sold them to me. Yeah it drives stock....at least it think it does....man its alot of fun...id never go back...that automatic $hit fu(king sucks~!!!!! I'm gonna chuck this broken auto tranny into the river as soon as i can!!!!!

OK... After much thought.
I think I know what is happening...
On a factory car there is a spacer between the pedal and the wall.. This creates a longer distance between the master and the pedal.
This spacer is about 1.25 inches tall.. If you did not use a spacer this size then the master will not completly retract.
if it can't retract then it keeps adding fluid to the system though Im sure you noticed if you wait a little it will return..
My suggestion is to adjust this distance w/ the adjuster on the pedal so that the master can retract a greater distance.. This should fix your problem..
I am also having Harold update his page w/ this info.

So if you put a 1/2 inch worth of spacers you need to adjust the master 3/4 of and inch..(hopefully you have that much adjustment.

I agree that I think this is the problem, but the fluid does not retract if you wait a while. In fact if I leave the car running in neutral, it will fill up with fluid and not want to engage the clutch. Also how much of a spacer do you need? I'm confused. When you say the master cylinder has to retract, you mean it has to pull out as the pedal pulls it out? Mine pulls out all the way, it seems like it would pull more but the master cylinder wont go any further out.

I'd do it for 1800.
