Suggestions needed for News/Shop Talk/MaxFAQs....

We've recently received suggestions that we update the news and 'Shop Talk' articles with more current information. In an effort to do just that, we need your suggestions. We've had people volunteering to do the write-ups and help update some of the information, but we need your ideas for Maxima-related information.

What kind of information do you need? What information do you think that newcomers need to know? Some of this may fall under the "MaxFAQs" area, but we need suggestions there too.

Coming soon -- new additions to the 'Wheel/Spring/Tire Combinations' gallery!

Installs write-ups that you can find every where else..intake, exhaust, suspension, brakes, etc.

I had a lot of people email me about how to do a compression test when I posted my results...that was easy.

We should include everything and anything that we can get our hands on. What maxima related install or procedure wouldn't you want in there? I can't think of any.

I nominate emax95's "2002 Orange headlight reflector removal" writeup about a monthish ago. Fairly short, but with useful pics and good for anyone needing to get inside the headlight assembly.

gavski's WSP muffler install in GREAT DETAIL. Very well done already. Posted on the 3rd Gen forum last month.

Adding mention of WSP's subframe connectors to the appropriate section for virtually all generations.

Also, more additions to the Model Specs in the Reading Room would be nice.

do these suggestions and writeups get copywrited to the org? or are they just left under the person's name?

Anyone who creates anything has the first rights to what they produce. Submissions to Maxima.org would become property of Maxima.org, however. The person would still get credit for the write-up and will get a Maxima.org e-mail alias for a write-up with instructions AND photos.

as someone said, what wouldn't you want to include?

anything maxima related and *useful* should go there.

for instance, look at cheston's site. so many useful how to's and model specific information. honestly, that's the real site for maxima info, it just doesn't have the forums. maxima.org should be the info resource that maximadriver is.

it's easy to do too... i'm sure you have a ton of people (myself included) that wouldn't mind one bit writing up a few installs, or model information, or anything of that nature. just tell us where to send it... anything to make maxima.org more than just a bbs.

Agreed. Jamie, I would be more than willing to take pictures and do write ups for any installs needed (that I've done or am doing of course). This is something that I feel this site has been lacking for a long time, and I'm glad to see that we're making a move to get it updated!

i think this is a great idea, it would give people a chance who dont know much about car installs (like myself) a chance to do it on their own,

Anything with pics is 100 times better than just instructions.

After I redid the fog light rewire "how-to" with pictures about twenty people in the first week emailed about how easy it was. It was always easy, but adding pictures makes it more understandable.

So we could take existing "how-to's" and just add pics. There are plenty of individual sites that have lots of these done, it would just be the effort of bringing them together.

I guess we can add more to the Car Care Section of the site. Here is a site for all the Dremel owners http://www.dremel.com/projectsdispla...ist.asp?CAT=20

Sure, great idea
There is a lot of things, and misc write ups on basic things, if anyone is willing to sort them out and make them concise and as straight forward as possible, in other words, just pick the best ones. For example, I would nominate NickStam's directions for the red/clear tails since I have just done mine according to his and they were great, pics helped too.

BTW, I would just like to add a suggestion about another thing,
the LINKS section has a lot of outdated stuff, it's probably not used much by the regulars, but I can see how the majority of the members who do not visit all that often, probably do check it and it's kind of outdated. There are a lot more sites which are much better. Maybe that can be considered

I'd like to see something that just has stock specs - torques, spark plug and oil filter part numbers, that sort of thing all in one place. Also, maybe a section of cheap homemade mods, like my $.02 engine mount mod or the El Cheapo cold air intake. Things people can do that are similar to the high end products, until they are ready to pay the bucks for the real deal.

having a 3rd gen and reading everything in that forum, i feel that we need more how to's on fixing stuff...if people could take pics and do write ups on things that break and they fix themselves, it would really save people some big bucks (especially those like me who are hesitant b/c they havent done anything b/f ), for example, i am going to replace my valve cover gasket soon (the rear bank...ouch!), if anyone is interested i could do a write up and pics on that...i know it may not seem like a lot to most of you, but for a newcomer to working on cars it really helps. any thoughts
