Anyone used a GTECH performance pro?
So I have been reading about the GTECH performance pro meters here and there. Unfortunately, the website sucks and does not have much information. Has anyone used these meters before and have opinions on them?
I have heard complaints about usability but they are supposed to be accurate.

They are precise, but not accurate. Basically, if you car actually runs 0 - 60 in 7.0 sec, for example, the Gtech may read 6.9, but it will give you that same repeatable error every time.
Basically, they are not too good for absolute numbers, but they are good for comparing times and speed after mods and such. I ran a 15.35 at the track, while the Gtech said that run was a 15.29.

Also, when the thing arrives, you will not be impressed with its overall quality. It isnt the sturdiest piece of $140 equipment.

If you read g-techs newer ads.. It says that trap speeds will be higher becuase it gives the actual speed at the 1/4 mile mark while at a track they give you average of the last 60' of the 1/4 mile. I find that to be a wierd statement, is it true?

And yes they do average your speed over the last 60'. I guess that's some sort of standard that developed over years of drag racing.

However, you can use the Gtech forever so if you divide its price over the years of use it's not very expensive at all. I had to buy some replacement suction cups for mine, but they only cost $1.30 for 3

Thanks for the input!
Another qurstion. Is it true that you have to enter your car weight in every time you make a run for different things like switching from 0-60 to HP measurements and every time you turn it on?
That seems like a pain in the butt to me!

I think he means since I'm in Austin where is a flat road. Answer: There isn't one
Luckily I'm from Plano which as the name implies is very flat. So if anyone in Austin knows of a flat road it's news to me.

Oh well.
Actually the upper deck on 183 just east of Mopac is a great straightaway. We usually do some races up there for highway pulls because it's very hard for cops to see you. Except the time that I jumped to the left lane and flashed my hazards only to see a cop pull up behind me
