PICS- Monster Filter/pop charger

I just received my CAI along with the new Monster filter. I didnt have tome to install the CAI so I just decided to use the monster filter on my MAF adapter to form a pop charger. Impressions are that it feels smoother at WOT than my other cone filter and its also alot quieter too. no more loud Waaaaaaa! from the intake anymore.

heres some pics of the new filter that everyone was asking to see.

B-A-D. That's one of the best things about having an intake. Oh well, let us know if the CAI is quiet too.

yea but its not stock quiet its more of a muffled pop charger waaaa. I think its because the foam and the fins inside there keeps the air from resonating and echoing.

YES your right. I just installed the rest of the cai just now and took a test drive. while driving home at a 35mph roll, I dropped it into 2nd and floored it and that was the scariest 5 seconds ever in the max!

So you like this filter setup better then your JWT filter? Better gains?

Loose that accordian rubber behind the MAF. According to the guys at the dyno shop, that stuff isn't helpful. A smooth piece of connector hose will be better.

Is this filter any better than ones like Frankenstein or Place Racing?

yes I know, like I said, I already have a CAI, that was the pic I took when I first recieved it in the mail so I just put the filter on just to compare it.

jsohn: about the filter- I dont feel that a foam filter would be suitable for CAIs. right now I switched the foam back to my old cotton filter. I didnt notice any type of gains with the foam other than its quieter than the cotton.

Why not? The guy that wrote "The Oil Bible" feels that the complexity of foam filters works a lot better than oiled paper.

The other issue that others have brought up...

Is that with the foam filter, you have to make sure it doesn't deteriorate, break up and get sucked into your engine. People have been concerned about that with the HKS Super Mega Flow, Greddy Airnix, and Weapon R Dragon Intake as well. I guess the problem might not come up with the HKS model, since you're supposed to replace them(about $20) every 3k miles. I don't know about the others. Is the Monster filter supposed to be replaced or cleaned or anything?
