Lets talk about the Maxima class- who is our competition

I don't know if this topic has come up with 2k2 maximas, but WHAT MODELS CLASSIFY INTO THE SPORT SEDAN COMPETITION?
so far i look at these models
1) the Altima- of course
2) another Maxima- must show respect
3) Acura CL/TL typs S- when the 6 speed tranny is available for us manual dudes
4) Honda Accord Coupe v6- close but no cigar
5) Infinity g35- same platform but rear wheel drive as a plus
6) Then the little 4 bangers with turbos/chips/exhausts/etc...

Any other input on this?

Maxima use to be in a class with the camrys/accord, but the 2002 altima now takes that postion; offering a econobox inline 4 and a v6, where as the maxima will cost more then both the accord and the camry. I'd say the maxima is in a class of its own now.. not quite acura tl-s class, that goes to the Infiniti I30.. so I put it in a class of its own, waiting for newer competitors.. which is why it was number 3 on cars that set standards.

Even tough the Maxima offers more features than the cars I will mention I think that the Max is in the class with the following

1. Avalon
2. Diamonte
3. Millenia
4. Grand Prix

The cars mentioned all come w/ V6 engines standard. They are classified as midsize (Avalon?) and are their plebian Companies top of the line Midsize models (Bonniville is entry level) Max may not compete with these cars, but I would group them in the same class w/ the Max being "Ahead of the Class."

The driver's cars in the same class as the Maxima.

1. Passat/Jetta
2. Saab 9-3
3. Legacy GT
4. A4

Relatively poweful, good driving manners, and all available with manual tranny.
