Rear window TSB (done, but not correctly need assistance)

Who has had it done? I did the diagnosis and the wind went away (tape applied to the outside of the window). Took it in for service and they did the TSB (without me mentioning it). But it still whistles....not done correctly?

If you had it done, did the seals stick out by the top corner of the window on the inside? It looks as if he just mutilated it trying to put the tape pieces inside the weather stripping....uggg

PLUS, while trying to find a plasticy rattling noise, the tech PRIED the center vent out screwing up the face plate on the radio and leaving some marks in the dash. WTF? How come it can be done by the same tech earlier without any damage....?

I pointed it out and recieved a "we will see what we can do". They got some part numbers and will give me a call tomorrow as to what they propose to solve the issue....

Sigh....this is why I really did not want to take it in for service. Nothing got fixed and it is even more damaged coming back out....

I got the rear door tsb done yesterday

dang boo....where are you located???? I JUST got my rear window TSB repaired yesterday

I was in the Service Manager's office showing off this site and printing out all the TSB's that are posted here!!!

they ordered the parts for the rear window fix last week and they came in on friday, went I went in originally I gave a copy of the TSB to my service advisor who was not there yesterday, so I did not realize until I was there for 30 min and one of the guys came and asked for a copy of the TSB cause they couldn't find the one that I had left previously

they place the weatherstripping on the inside lip of the frame for the rear door

the addition of more stripping dramatically decreased the amount of noise I had coming from the rear door....i counldn't stand the sound of me driving with the windows up, but having to constantly look back to checkto see if the back windows REALLY were up!!

I have a good relationship with my service department, I go by to say hi even when I don't need service!!!

If you feel like driving to Miami (where the weather is lovely by the way) stop my Maroone Nissan of Kendall and look for Bill Sager the Service Manager, and tell him his favorite librarian sent you!!!

good luck

hmmm, the TSB did not address this area. It addressed more the area on the door itself. Which TSB (I have read almost all of 'em) has them tape up the upper seal on the frame, or did they actually diagnose the problems and use problem solving skills?

Thanks for the pics, it really helped in understanding the different TSB. Now if you could just get me the number...

Thanks.

Re: Re: I got the rear door tsb done yesterday

I took TSB # NTB01-029 which can be found in the TSB sticky thread that is always at the top of the forum for 5th gen.

the link that the forum takes you to is http://www.atalla.net/maxima/WindNoiseTSB.pdf

I gave the service dept that TSB and they fixed the wind noise using it

i'm still trying to figure out why my dang pics won't display IN the forum...oh well

http://community.webshots.com/storag...KPicYmD_ph.jpg

http://community.webshots.com/storag...EXGSqGy_th.jpg

the pics are of the inner lip of the door frame, NOT the door, they put additional stripping underneath what was already there,

there may have been some placed in other locations, but that was the one that was the most obvious without me having to lift anything up, and F%$k-up what was just fixed!!

but TSB NTB01-029 is the one that I gave the service dept!!

hope this helps

No no....I got your pics to work, you just click on the red X box and get properties and then put into a new window...That is how I knew it was more frame related than door related.

I guess my tech is just a nonthinker because he did not do that...They did come up with that TSB though (I was not going to give it to them because the last time they got miffed that I knew the information in advance...)

That's EXACTLY why I dread going in for diservice, I mean service.

I'm still saving up enough patience and time to go in to get my hood flutter, driverside mirror wobble, and vanished/swallowed gas flap fixed.

Update

Called the service guy and this is what they are working on.

1) they are trying to find a car on the lot with the same stereo for a one to one switch out. I have mixed feelings about this because people claim with tint that their reception dwindeled. Mine did not. In fact its so good I get Dayton stations in Northern Kentucky which makes me happy. I am afraid the "new" head might be inferior.

2) If nothing on the lot, their "plastic/vinyl" guy will repair the existing damage. Although he "forgot" about the gouges to the right of the center vent that I had to remind him that needed fixed as well. I stated "as long as I cannot see it or find the fixes/damage that is fine by me". There was just a long pause after my comment.

3) They will have to re-evaluate the wind noise. Meaning my car will probably get ragged to **** and back because as I was pointing out the damage to the service rep, the tech was there also for "education" purposes and was shooting me evil looks the whole time.

4) Since they messed up I requested a FREE loaner car until all work was completed to my satisfaction. He said he would check to see what he could do. This should be an act of customer service because NOTHING was fixed this time and in fact more was broken.

So we will see, I am not going to hold my breath for an easy amiable solution. I see the writing on the wall and am probably in for a long dance.

Sigh.......

Did you guys have to give the service managers/techs the TSB yourself? I went to my Nissan dealer (first time going there for service) to see them about getting my brakes fixed. The service guy had no clue about the brake TSB and he couldn't look it up. The only guy that could look them up wasn't there. See my thread about it, I'd appreciate feedback on how you guys are treated:

yeah...

with 3 dealers, tons of visits, I've said nothing/warned them/pleaded and I still get scratches or something everytime I go in. I can get into the dash without scratching it, why can't they? I've decided to just be an *** right off now.. at least they will remember that I was a jerk and *hopefully* remember that I told them that they will buy whatever they scratch. That has actually worked the best.. go figure. it goes against my nature, but fight fire with fire I guess.

I plan on calling DaveB and getting the foam myself <$10. Thats worth my time *NOT* waiting around for service. Much less the hassle when they destroy everything around the problem fixing it.

Well I was very amiable about the situation. I am always trying to start off nice, you know flies/honey kind of thing. But as the story continues, I will become more insistant and a royal pain in their ***. I am not going to accept anything short of the best at this point.

Service at Quirk Nissan
I have given them the TSB 2 times before and all they do is get ****ed. So this time I changed up, reported the issue and let them find it. They did, but did not complete the service correctly or neatly. They kind of butchered the seal.

I read your issue and when I had to get the fuel guard, I ended up going throught parts to force service to get the job done correctly. They never heard of it....uggg.

Over all the front guy is o.k. (Randy) but the people above him are slimey and jockeying to try and slither outta the situation....not pleasant.

I actually hate my service guys so much that I have vowed to find out
what the service manager drives and I'm gonna f*ck his sh*t up!

Might even follow his fat f*cking *** home one day so I could carve
up his front door. I already know what I'll carve in his door....
it'll say "Thanks for the great service you worthless c*cksucker
piece of sh*t."

Another Update

Well at least Randy is calling me letting me know what is up. The game plan is:

1) Arrive at service department at 8:00am to let the "plastic/vinyl" guy look at it. Apparently he is an outside contractor. I was told he is very good and this is just a small issue. Small issue, but MAJOR inconvience.
2) Once it is determined that he can fix, they will give me a rental (Woo Hoo....) and will proceed to fix the dash and redo the window area.
3) If he cannot fix the dash, then its plan B. What is plan B I ask....they don't know yet.... Ugggg.

So there you have it....so far....letting everyone know what is going on in this thread is the only way I am keeping my patience on this issue.

hood flutter???is there a fix for that?? when I first noticed it I pulled over to make sure the damn hood was closed!!!

but I just put the bra (nose mask ....get yur mind's outta the gutter) on her and .....the hood does not flutter AS MUCH as it did before....I thought that was just another one of those annoying quirks that I would have to learn to love jus cause she's my maxima

speaking of annoying quirks.....where is all my paint going?? I look at all the spots where the paint has come off and sometimes I reminisce about my 95 Nissan Sentra with the phat booty and 1.4 cylinder engine and no damn TSB's....and I want to cry, cause I do miss her

but she..with her paint job that NEVER had a problem....is in a better place

Update:
1) Plastic/Vinyl guy, who by the way is very nice and honest, said he could fix the dash part but could do nothing to fix the faceplate on the radio. The service guy even kinda pushed him to try anyway and he refused stating that there is no way.
2) So he is looking for a Bose radio for replacement. Sigh....
