Another 6-speed pick up Announcement

I'm going to finally pick my HLSD 6-speed up right now. Been waiting since November. I should be a lot more excited than I am but i had a bad end to my night last night. i'm sure my mood will change in about an hour. I'm glad this day is finally here.

I feel bad...

...well not really, but seems like a lot of people waited a long time for their 6spds. We wanted an Altima, saw a Max SE we liked better. Went to the dealer on a Monday, worked a price, dealer located the car Tues, drove it home Friday. Granted it did not have leather, nav or hlsd, (just bose, sunroof, mats and splash guards) but we didn't have to wait months. (Don't drive agressively enough for the benefits of hlsd anyway) Congrats on your new ride. I know you will love it as much as my wife and I do. Won't be modding it, just glad my wife likes to drive stick! (Also, having a '96 Explorer automatic tranny crap out out 60,000 mi. helped) Just hoping the 6spd problems some of you face aren't typical!

okay, i AM happier than ive been in a long time but one thing about the new car really annoys me. it had 287 miles on it when i picked it up. i was expecting it to have like 8. i asked the dealer about this and he said "we were trying to get it shipped directly to us but nissan said it was too late for that. we knew it wasnt too late for that so we checked and nissan was mistaken and was talking about another black maxima. but by the time we figured it out it WAS too late for that. so we had to have it transfered here from the dealer in North Carolina" so that means other people have been driving it God knows how hard. im over it but i was pretty annoyed to begin with.

Yeah, similar issue I had. Dealer wrote down 20 miles on the purchase, but, read the odo wrong. Had 200 miles on it. It was either used by the sales guys or driven from another location...

Oh well. Hopefully they were kind to it. I'll find out in a few years I guess

dont sweat it. Im in the same boat. Albeit mine had 56 kilometers on it. One thing I noticed is that all the good radio stations were preset by whoever drove it to the dealer. Also the bass and treble were maxxed. Its safe to assume it was some 20 ish year old, laying the beats to my new car for the short drive.

yeah i also noticed that the radio was set to the only good radio station we have out here in rural VA (Where i go to school). although, they could have just been listening to it while they were cleaning it getting ready for pickup.

How are you finding the car. I find that there is more torque steer than my 2k1 5speed, but I guess more torque=more torque steer. The one thing I dont care for the the slight throttle hesitation. I guess I ll get used to both.

well, ive only had the car for a few hours and after i picked it up i had to come back and do homework and get to class. so ive only spent about 30 mins driving the car. i cant really say much as of right now. its very different going from a 4th gen automatic to a 5th gen manual. i can drive stick but this is the first manual car i have ever owned so im still sort of learning how to drive it at this point. i know i love it so far. no complaints from me.

You got the exact same Max as I bought about a month ago! I know I'm going to suffer this summer with the black leather but I don't care - it's beautiful! I previously owned a 2000 Max SE auto (sold it to my parents). I love all the little refinements that the 2002 has - especially the power and the HID's. No real complaints except the manual feels a little notchy (hope that loosens up with time) and the trip computer MPG read out is much higher than acutal - tells me 26 mpg but I calculated closer to 21 mpg so far.

I was relieved when I went to test drive my car. The guy at the dealership told me that he wouldn't let anyone else test drive my car before I got there. I figured that was some BS, but when I got there it only had 7.5 miles on it (which I was told is from the test track).

As far as the notchy manual, mine feels better than when I got it. I'm around 2,500 miles now (mostly city, so lots of shifting). I'm no expert though, this is my first manual.

A tip on trying to buy what you exactly want in a car.... unless they have the car you are looking for, THE LAST THING A DEALER WANTS TO DO IS ORDER ONE IN TO YOUR LIKING! they will say "no problem"
they source from other dealers and will do whatever it takes to get it to you. in a sense it's a positive thing that it gets there quicker than expected but it will come with miles....
I bought my 2k2 off the line. it was my 3rd choice in color (tungsten blue) but had everything else i wanted which was everything!
the car had 28 miles (17 were driven by me- as a dealer myself they had me sign a test drive waiver and let me take it home for the night)I brought it back with a company check and all is well....
GOD! thank god I did not buy the Acura CL type S This car surpasses in craftmanship and is faster overall!
rob
by far the most underrated car in it's class!
