tie rod ends
i just bought a 91 gxe and there is a clunking noise coming from the front when you turn the wheels left or right. i have been told that it is the tie rod ends but just wanted to be sure if that is what it really is..just looking if any of you have had this same problem wiht your car.
if your steering is alot more loose than normal..like if you hit a bump and the car jerks side ways..then it's probably your tie rod.
don't worry bout asking here man..just get it fixed..your steering and brakes are your life.

It could also be a strut mount. Have you put the car on a lift yet? Get under there and try to push up on the wheel. Post what happens.
Also, usually if it's a CV joint you're gonna notice it right away when you get under it and look. Get it on a lift and then post what you see...

I had a clunking noise come whenever I would turn my wheel all the way left. Like in a parking lot. I found out what it was. All I did was tighten the nut at the top of the strut. Pop your hood, take off that black cap on the top of the strut. Then, tighten the nut and see if it moves. Then test drive.
My nut moved about a 1/16th of a turn. But, it was enough to stop the clunking. Just an idea.
