Unfortunately I haven't kept track of mine in a while. I think the decrease in mpg could be attributed to flooring it more often to hear the nice sound but that's in my case.

With all my mods and a decently heavy foot I average 22-24 on the highway and 18-19 in the city. The least I have ever gotten is 14 after constant WOT, and even when I go to the track I average 18 or so

Re: If YOU have JWT POPcharger read this

I have my for about 4 months now and I don't really see a difference maybe a little less MPG then before but then again in the winter I always get low miles so I have to see in the summer it should give me more MPG's I hope.

I didn't notice any mileage difference after I added my JWT cone three years ago.

My car has always gotten lousy mileage though. I think it has more to do with the driver (i.e. lead footed me) than the car.

If you have a 2K+, you should do it over night (unhook the battery). If you have a 4th gen, I believe there is a specific way to reset the ECU inside the car, but since I have a 5th I am not 100% sure. Check around the site if you have a 4th gen....its been explained.

I havent really kept track really, but at first I dont think there was much of a change and that was a year and a half ago, but now my mileage has gotten really sheitty. I need a tuneup badly I guess.

Ive been keeping track of my mileage every time I fill up since I bought the car 2 years ago. I averaged about 24-25mpg before adding the pop charger, once added, I didnt see any change at all. Then when I threw on the exhaust stuff, my mileage went down, but thats when winter hit, so obviously it would go down. I keep up with the regular maintenence things like replacing the fuel filter, spark plugs and such. On a couple occasions I have been able to pull about 32mpg just straight highway driving, averaging about 75mph.

BTW I havnt reset the ECU either since adding the goods..

on all the cars I've added aftermarket intakes on, all have seen mpg improvements since you increase the engine's volumetric efficiency.

as someone mentioned, mpg will drop during colder weather.

My mpg drops during cold weather, but I find that really really strange. In colder weather, the air is denser, so the car should run more efficiently. This has always baffled me.

The only thing I can think of that would hurt mileage in winter is that cold weather makes all the viscous fluids, well, more viscous. The wheels may be more resistant to rolling, the oil in the pan may be a bit thicker etc.

during the winter months, you are using fuel that uses more ethanol (to meet the oxygenate leves) that are causing the drop in the gas mileage. The Federal Clean Air Act requires this fuel from Oct 1 to Jan 31.

OK. That explains it. I forgot about that. That's the stuff (MTBE)that has back-fired big time for the EPA. Modern cars try to compensate for that crap and end up getting worse mpg (as this thred has attested) and, MTBE has shown itslef to be environmentally un-friendly as well, seeping into and dmaaging water tables.

MTBE be GONE dag nabbit!

If you're going to dis-connect the battery, you have to do it for 24 hours in order for the ECU to completely forget. At least that's what the FSM says. The quickest way is to use the screwdriver method to reset it.

when its cold the ecu makes the engine run rich, commonly called choking it. Carbs used to do this by choking the air off and adding fuel, richening the mixture. There's a number of variables with injected cars, bottom line is fuel, the ecu runs rich while the engine is warming to operating temperature. This denser air you speak of has minute effects.

do u guys know why winter is so bad on MPG and if summer gets better? i thought colder air was dense and good already. i still have poor mileage on my car w/ just JWT pop. no hard driving either.
