2k-2k2 body kit update

i dont know how many of you guys visit the general forum, but for those who dont, it seems that we're down to 2 options for a new kit

option 1, more laid back, refined and 'chilln':
http://www.hotimportnights.com/galle...1/DSCN6528.jpg

on that one, i believe the side skirts are too simple...i dont even like stillen sides because they look stock...i like the types of side skirts many of the integras/civics have just cuz they dont look stock...i also think that the ninja sides are too plain, but better than stillen

option 2, more aggressive than Stillen but not riced kit, id like to this see more than the previous:
http://www.hotimportnights.com/galle...1/DSC00130.jpg

i believe we're gonna be starting a vote on it next week so get your opinion in...all we need is 10 buyers and its a new kit for us...
lets roll

1st looks better, sorta touring style. 2nd reminded me of Honda Accord, and those valences look gay, in my personal taste. Do you have the pic of the 1st kit on 5th gen Maxima?

Someday I hope to get a bodykit, but would rather be interested to pay pay halfprice for front lip, rear and sides rather then altering my car to extent I have to remove bumpers...How about trying to play more by adding somethings to OEM bumper and pricing it attractively 300-400 for all 4 pieces..

well the 2nd pic should remind you of accord cuz it is...like i said, or maybe i didnt, im coo w/ either one, but my tastes has the kit thats on the accord...pricing and stuff you have to talk to altima8 but hes saying around ~700 for all 4 pieces...not sure on exact details...im down for either kit..i originally posted both those choices in the general forum so i just want a damn kit...and nah, no pics of it on a maxima...altima8 was just looking for ideas of kits that he could possibly get molded into a maxima kit...so we'll see what happens

lol I was like WTF lookin like an Accord...the same kit may look differently on two cars..have to see how it looks on your car, you know. The 2nd one has those fins in the front bumper I dont like..That Kamikaze-Ninja kit looks much better to me.

I respect that you are trying to get everyone to pic a kit but I have to say I really do not like either kit at all. I still would like to see a kit that resembles a sykline GTR 34.

all good...

hey bout those fins, nobody really likes em so if somehow thats the one thats chosen, they will most likely be removed...and yea, tru, we wont know how it looks but we're juss lookn for ideas...and emax, tis all good...im not much for those skyline kits cuz of the air dams they have, i really dont like those huge rectangle openings...but if ppl end up voting on the skyline kit, then maybe ill either go w/ stillen or maybe it'll grow on me and ill get that...

I really like touring-type kit, sort of the one that was on Lexus GS. Maxima is a 4-dr car, not a 2-door sports coupe like Mitsu 3000 or Nissan 300. As I noticed, some existing body kits for 5th gen made the way you have to take out OEM fog lights, which is a complete waist of resources. What kind of a hooked up ride it is without fog lights?

That way it would be really smart to build not a whole kit but only 4 peaces (lip, valence, sides) that can be added to stock bumpers. So far, looks like Stillen is the only player in the line, and they charge 500 bux for just front lip? This would cost less to produce (less material=less labor hrs) and the savings could be passed on to us. With there was a smart playa in here who could make Stillen worry about their business.

I would like to see a nice new front lip, side skirts and rear valance my self. Stillens kit looks ok but there are no smooth flowing lines on it, I would like to see a nice presise cut smooth flowing kit. The only catch with them making a front lip would be that it would only fit 2000-2001 or 2002. Lips would sell a lot better then the full body kit would too.

thanks for getting my point. Not only they will sell better, but they are cheaper to produce, and should be priced accordingly, 150-175 for a lip.

I wish I could get an insiders view of what does it take to produce smthg like that, what kind of typical costs involved, and the industry's average profit margin. If companies manage to sell full kits for Civic under 600 bux, then lip/valance, sides alltogether should cost less than that, since they do not constitute the whole kit.

..only if im not lazy..

unlike now

i think the accord kit would look nice..

....provided that the ugly indented surrounds around the cut out werent there, and that it were just a lip instead of a full kit.

here's my quick chop (not quite as good as the r34):

if someone has any better pictures of the kit (preferably in silver), i wouldnt mind chopping up a better pic.

dreams need to be reality. Enough with the honda's and acura's only getting kits. The 2001 honda civic already has at least 20 different kits for it come on make us at least some so we all are not the same. different is better.

That looks sweet but it's got to be made of urethane or I won't buy it.

I agree fiber glass runs a higher risk of cracking.

Altima8, the guy that's selling the kits, says his shop uses 4 layered fiberglass. He said the polyurethane could be done, but it would be much more expensive, and he'd need a larger group of people for the group-buy. You can ask him about it yourself on the General Discussion board.

Sorry to nit pick but he said he uses 5 layers of fiberglass

Maybe we could compromise and have a front bumper made out of urethane and the rest made of fiberglass? If we did that we would not have to worry about the front cracking at all but then it would probably cost $100-200 more.

MaximaZero, is there any chance you made a pic of the side or rear of the skyline kit on a max?

Oh sorry about the extra layer

As for rear and side pics, I thought the Maxima on the right in the sig was a picture of the GT-R kit. The one with the Skyline rear tail-lights...

ok...let assume the following...altima8 begins producing 5 layer-fiberglass Maxima GT-R kit, looking very similar if not identical to the one MaximaZero has put together for us, how many people would definately buy it?

Definitely count me in. I do have a few questions, however. Will this kit require that the front or rear bumpers be removed. Also, would the rear tail lights come with the kit, or would we have to make those ourselves?

i chopped a full r34 conversion (trunk lid, tail lamps, and rear bumper) to the maxima in my sig. i wouldnt mind chopping up some more pictures, but i need some good pictures of the r34 from different angles. if anyone has some good r34 pictures, id be more than happy to come up with a few more images.

if we can get 10 orders, then i believe w/in a month...and it looks like we're going to be getting that
and with that different generation different kits, i agree also...we have an opportunity to get different looks for our cars, so we should take advantage...Maxima GT-R for the 5th gen!!!!!

That skyline has a C-west kit, w/ HRE rims.. those rims are expensive~! custom order to fit.

as for the body kits, urethane is not brittle like fiberglass counterparts, but they do sag. Saw a wings west kit on a civic and it sags a lot. Some sunlight/heat will form it up appropriately though.

That r34 photochop looks good, REAL good.. but i think the grill will be a bit shorter on the maxima.

either way, hope it all works out.
