WSP Y-Pipe is here........But!!!!!!

Just got my WSP y-pipe and Carsound Cat yesterday. Took the car in today to get it installed. They quoted me $50-80 installed not too bad. 3 hours later I get a call, 2 bolts are already broken off my manifold, before they even started . Not something I ever noticed, now the car is there untill Monday. I guess I will just have to wait a few more days

I thought about that, but I figured that it would come back to haunt me and I got the money now from tax returns. Might as well have them fix it while they are in there. And they told me shouldn't cost more then $70 or so to get them both out, so I was happy about that. It will all be worth it once I get the pipe on.

you should replace all the studs while it's off, otherwise the job just gets to be done again. do a search on exhaust manifold studs and you'll find tons of info about them... they're a common weakpoint, if you didn't know that already.. just do them all (since you've got the time and money), and you shouldn't ever have to worry abotu them again that way.

Yeah I know the studs are a problem with our cars. The thing that bothers me is that I know what the car sounds like when they are broken. It’s loud as s***. My car did not sound like that when I took it in. And I should have gone back and looked at the car when they told me what they thought was wrong. I did talk to them this morning and they are replacing all the studs and the gaskets for the manifolds. They said the gaskets were about blown, and I figure that with the new y-pipe it wouldn't take much longer until they were truly messed up. But they have to order the damn things from Nissan over night, so it’s another day without my car. Guess I'll be driving the old truck for a bit. All in all it’s looking to cost me about $320 for everything. It just sucks when you are to far away from home at collage and you can't do it all yourself like I usually do in the summer. Ah well this y-pipe better be worth it

That's it? Where do you live? I might come out there... I have the same problem, and I was told it would take at LEAST 6 hours at $62/hr to take them out and put new ones in...
My sisters' ex said he'd get them out and put an exhaust on for me if I could find someone to remove the heads, but here in CT, I can't find anyone to do that for me.
Hell, I get laughed at calling boneyards for parts

Well since I only had 2 bolts broken it wasn't as bad. They charge $50/hour here, and its at an American Service Center Shop and they do pretty good work. It all depends on how many broken studs you have. They said it was about 30 min for each broken stud. And another hour for the rest of the studs and gasket. $320 is a lot, but cheaper then they are asking from you. Oh by the way I am at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA.

How long did it take to get it? Mine's been on order for about a week and a half now. Hoping it shows up this week.

I had to wait a few weeks for mine. I believe 3 weeks. But that was because they ran out of flex sections. They are really busy there and are shipping as fast as they can. Get my car back tomorrow after class at 1:30. I can't wait!!
