FINALLY...Automagic 4th gen max in the 14's

We just got back from the drag strip. Everyone ran their best today, because the weather was good...60 degrees, low humidity. Maximus1000 has a new best to post in his 2k2 6 speed as well. He actually ran better than me in my car. All of my runs today were 15.0 or better, so I had no bad runs. My best ended up being

60'...2.29
330...6.330
1/8...9.642
MPH...73.21
1/4...14.948
MPH...91.49

next was..

60'...2.307
330...6.346
1/8...9.663
MPH...73.74
1/4...14.994
MPH...91.93

I also had a 15.000 @ 92.32 mph. Overall I am pretty happy. I still think this car has another tenth or two left in it. Remember that I weigh 250 lbs also. There wasn't too much traffic so everybody got a few runs. There were a few new mustangs that were running low 14's, integras that were running mid 15's, there was also a CL-S that was running 15.4's. My friend Andy (fast ls1) ran a best of 13.1 @ 109 mph in his 00 firebird. A stock 5 spd max ran a best of 15.0.

Awesome! So it's possible. That's my goal next Saturday when I go to the track. Basically I have the same mods as you except the ECU.

How did you launch your car? I think that's the thing I need to work on.

I was under the impression that lots and lots of Autotragics were in the mid-low 14's.

Don, Sprintmax, etc....

Maybe SprintMax doesn't have an auto? But I think he does.

Don's is supposedly the fastest Max on the board.

Don't mean to offend, just not sure what the big deal is.

He's N/A. No nitrous, no SC, no turbo. Without those, and auto Max in the 14's is very hard.

With an SC, and all the other stuff, it's easy to hit 14's in an auto. I'm sure my auto is somewhere in the 14's.

sprint has a 5spd, but he ran a 14.9 anyway, and Don has run a 12.2 with a 100 shot of nos, N/A he ran a 14.1 I think but with a torque converter, limited slip tranny, and slicks. Other than don, I have not seen another auto in the 14's N/A besides the new 2k2's.

You better edit your post bro, saying SprintMax has an auto is like cursing out a family member.

Anyways, congrats. Good to see the autos can cut it Remove some weight from it and you might shave another .2 or so off

stay out of my thread . tell everyone about how I killed your 2k2 off the line numerous times also to be fair. That one run, I cut a 2.222 60 ft time to your 2.350 60 ft, and it was a little while before you passed me... so there.

Well, the more advice the better.

I think I pretty much know what to do having ask a number of people. Now all I need to do is to put that knowledge into action.

I'm trying!

Thought I was gonna have it Sunday, but 15.05 was all I could get. After that it went downhill. Maybe more runs and practice on my launch some more. I will be there soon, I have to.

Easy to do, he has that special 5 speed mod. You should try it on your auto.

Congrats on the new time! Are you considering getting a high stall TC & some DR's? That should bring you down to consistent 14.8's-14.7's.

Hey i would have tried to run 14's NA but i was too busy knocking on the 13's in my auto. Traction was a HUGE problem for me.

Nothing my incoming 6spd & TT cant fix though.

That is sooo cool sleeper. Good job man. I wish I was there before the SC. I was 15.7 so I am probably only in the mid 14s now. Put a SC on your car however and...

Once again, congrats.

I haven't decided yet. I am looking to see if I can find a 5spd car so I can do the swap. If I can't find one in good shape for a good price, then I will probably get a high stall converter. Actually, I really like the automatic, especially once I get out of school and get a supercharger and build a fast car, I might rather have an auto. But a 5spd is so much more fun, and faster at this point.

Why does everyone say 5 speeds are more fun?!

More control.
High fuel mileage.
Better acceleration.
Better handling (with a proper driver controlling the gears)
Less expensive to buy new.
More reliabe.
Cheaper to fix.

To much stress dring it in the city. I drive my lady's 5 speed Accord and I hate it.

Maximus, the autos get better mileage on the highway.

Well its not that I hate driving the Honda because of the power, its because Boston is a tight place to drive with its small streets and stop lights at every corner. Don't even get me started on the hills. For me, 5 speeds are to much stress in this city.
