Oil/tranny cooler warranty ?

Can anyone confirm or just give your opinions on whether installing an aftermarket oil or tranny cooler will void the engine or tranny warranty? I'd really like to install both (not sure if space will allow that) but at least the tranny one to keep this automagic going forever but if it voids warranty then I'm inclined to wait til the powertrain warranty runs out, especially with all the autotragic tranny problems on this gen....Thanks in advance!

Re: Oil/tranny cooler warranty ?

The warranty is only void if the dealer can prove that the aftermarket part CAUSED the problem in question.

Read this for more information: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs...ranty/intro.htm

This is federal law. Don't let any dealer try to tell you different, if they do, go to another one or call Nissan USA and get them to give the service manager a little call too.

ahhh but...

They can always claim abuse. If you put mods on that are performance related, they can claim you abused/raced the car.

Some dealers would see a FSTB and deny your warped rotor claim because you were abusing the car. God forbid you paint your calipers.

While technically, the law is the law.. what do you do when the dealer and Nissan NA turn down your claim? Most people wouldnt know where to begin.

If it were me, I would wait.

Or ... you can become really good friends with the dealer.

1HOTMAX bought the whole department pizza for lunch one day and now, his car is treated with the utmost care when he brings it into the dealer and they don't bother him about his mods at all.

NOBODY can answer that for you other than your SERVICE REP/MANAGER.

If your really concerned this is the ONLY way to know:
Take you car in and ask your service rep/manager if you install either will they have a problem with that. If they say yes, wait until the warranty expires. If they say no, but question the installation, either have them install the cooler or say you will have a professional mechanic install it and have them verify the install.

Very simple way to find out. However, Hogans' PIZZA idea may work also.

He he he...my SM was nice enough to turn down my rotors at his cost and I have painted calipers and a 2K1. If you look at the TSB, it specifically says 2000....not 2000+. So he haggeled a seconds, must have seen the blood vessel in my forehead and conceded that he would do it as a good will gesture....

Thats cool considering that I have been at his place about twice a week for the last 3 weeks getting stuff fixed that they broke!
