Looking at rims offsets

Hey everyone,
I have a question here about some rims I was looking at. They only show them fitting our car in the 16 inch size at 16X7 5-114.3 35S. The problem is is that in the 18 inch size they come in 18X8.5 5-114.3 35S which fits into the right offset category and the wheel size fits also.

I was told that the offset should be in the 35 - 40 mm range. So both of those will work fine. But if I want only a 17 inch rime because they are a few pounds lighter it is only available in a size of 17X7.5 5-114.3 32S to be close to us. The problem is with the 32mm offset. Is there any way to make this fit with us correctly and safely? Or should I just go for the 18's in this rim? I really like the look but think it would be cool if I could save the weight and the cost of almost 50 bucks a rim.

Thanks

offset of +32 will stick outta the well a lil.. like 1cm or something. KevWong's got +32 17 Integrals, it looks ok.. if youre planning to slam the car, forget it. (unless yer rollin fenders too)

as for the wheel size, thats up to you. You can have the wheels machined to like +35 or something for a flush look, but thats $ per wheel. And, your next buyer, if you choose to sell, might not trust it.

I have 35mm offset on 18x8.5 tires. I'd say if youll go with that size, get 38mm offset, because 35 sticks out a little at the front, not that noticeable but still...I'm just perfectionist when it comes to my car so go with 38mm!!! Not sure about 17" rims, offset, etc...

Another thing is, if you're already spending money to get diff wheels, why not go two sizes higher, get more the money you'll spend, besides 17" is kind of out dated, I think, unless you just care for the performance.

if you'd like to see +38 and +42, visit http://intolerable.net/ogredave/Maxima/

The kasai's are 18x8 +38
The se7en's are 18x7.5 +42

Hope that helps.

And I'm running 17x8's with 35 offset. They stick out a little but kinda looks good. Your 18" would stick out another 6mm - a bit wide for my tastes.

Found this link to help my buy & choose.

Take into account that the 17s you want are an inch thinner(.5" on each side = 12.7mm) than the 18's you mentioned. I think 7.5" rims and 32mm will fit fine. Why? Because someone here ran some Mustang 17x8 rims w/ a 30-32mm offset and they fit fine. I run the same size Mustang rims/offset on my 3-gen and I could probably take down to 28mm offset and be okay. But 3-gens can take less offset than the 4-gens.

Hmm good point. Actually I might try to find out of the RPO2's ( these I was asking about are RPO1's) fit any better. But I am having a hard time finding them for sale on the net so far.

KevWong has "mustang" rims on his (SSR Integrals off a mustang, 17x8 at +32) .. they stick out a lil. If yer going for a lot of drop, you will chop rubber. Out of well maybe half-3/4 an inch in front.

I have 18 X 8.5. My offset is 38 mm in the front & 35 mm in the rear. I also needed to put spacers in the back to the bring the wheel out a little to make it flush with the fender. My front tire is flush with the fender. I am running 245/40-18 all around.
