post 1/8 mile times...

i, like alot of other maxima enthusiasts, don't have a 1/4 mile drag strip anywhere close. why don't we start this thread to post all the short-track times?! it would be much easier than sifting through the 1/4 mile replies...

oh, by the way, my newest pass this past sunday was a 9.45.

Mine about a month ago was 1/8 mile in 9.65 It was only my second time running my car. I'm pretty sure I can shave a tenth off of that. Only mod is a Stillen POP. What are you running? I'm also 5spd.

9.436 @ 74.49 mph last year.

Since then, I've added a Quaife ATB differential, Stillen aluminum flywheel, JWT Stage II clutch, Place Racing poly engine mounts and Cold Air Intake, JWT upgraded ECU with nitrous oxide control module, and NOS 65-HP dry shot kit, not to mention a rebuilt tranny and new cv joints/axles.

I can't wait to get back to the track...!

i got a greddy cat-back, and a cattman cai, tool. that's all for now. i have an act heavy duty clutch coming this week, but i gotta save up to put it in...the usual "workin' man's blues"!!

i plan to get the warpspeed y-pipe, a fuel pressure regulator, and put my bottle on asap. i'll prob spray about 75 on it. (dry naturally!!)

other than that, i just have quick feet! lol!!

What is my problem?

Last Friday I ran a 15.40 @ 90.4 mph, my 1/8 mile was 9.97! I was improving on every run so Im sure I wouldve been in the 15.3s on the next run but the track was just too crowded and I didnt have time to get another run in.

Is my low end that bad, can I not launch, or do I just suck in general.

96 Auto - JWT Intake, JWT ECU, Cattman Y Pipe, RT Cat
17" Borbet Type Es (23.6 lbs each) and about a half a tank of gas (fell asleep at the pump, didnt mean to put that much in).

Oh yeah, 60 ft on that run was 2.4285.

Re: 9.86

dcmax, what are you launching at? oh, wait, you have an automatic...that's a little tricky.

anyway, i launch my 5-speed at about 2400rpm's and usually get a pretty good take off. you might try holding the brake and try leaving the line at about 2500-2800rpm's. that should give you a pretty good launch, just don't over do it so that you alot when you let off the brake.

Just prior to start Ill brake hard and hold the rpms between 15 and 20, then I let off the brake and jam on the gas on the second yellow. I didnt think I was getting that much wheelspin -- a friend of mine suggested that I not torque brake and just to hit the gas, but I never got a chance to try that.

In general:

9.4s are good for 14.7-14.8

9.6s are good for 14.9-15.0

9.8s are good for 15.1-15.2

10.0s are good for 15.4-15.5

At least this has been my experience.

J-95G-
What are your 60 foots trap speeds like? These are a good indicator of how strong your car is and how my traction your getting. 74mph trap speeds with a 9.4X is pretty average.

i think they are usually between 71 and 72. i don't know for sure because the cheap asses that run the track haven't put any paper in the slip machine for about 2 months. as soon as i get one, i'll post all of my info for you guys to see.

is it unusual for a 95 5-speed to run 9.40's with only a greddy cat-back and a cattman cai?? i've noticed a lot of guys with more mods running about the same speed.
