I was planning on removing my pin stripe tomorrow, and I was wondering about something. I have some goo gone pro power that I have used on a couple of different cars in the past but never on my max. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with goo gone on factory nissan paint. The warning label says that it may damage some auto paint... and we surely don't want that.

Go to your local auto body supply store and buy a pinstripe removal tool.

It looks like a big wheel that attaches to a drill and is made out of the same stuff as a pencil eraser.

Took me 5 minutes to take my pinstripe off, and took the adhesive with it. All while being nice to my paint. Just don't hold it in one spot too long or you could burn through your paint.

Another thing... don't try and remove it when it is cold outside. I took mine off when it was 65 degrees and it left all kinds of "glue" on the car. I took it to my graphics guy and he used some type of cleaner he has and it came right off. He told me afterward, if you are going to try and remove it in cold temps, get a hair dryer or heat gun and for God's sake, be careful.

 

True. Be careful and use a little heat (heat gun at 7 or 8), standard goo-gone, and a whole bunch or rubbing with a soft cloth. I did it when it was cold and my god my arm hurt afterwards. But it came out awesome. No shadow NOTHING! Peace: e3 - spamman

 

thanks for the help guys... i am going to go and do it right now... I'll update later.

 

It was a lot easier than I thought. I just heated it up with my heat gun, and peeled it off ... slowly. After that I used the goo gone to remove the adhesive that was left. The whole process took less than 20 minutes, and now my car is all ready for a brand new body graphic.

 

Careful... you will get slammed for saying things like that.... trust me, I know...

 

That was why I said it...drama is fun...

 

 

I know this is an old post but I have a question.. Would that eraser thing work on a painted pin stripe? I know that sounds crazy but there is no clear coat or anything over the stripe right now.. I can feel the edge and all, but believe me its painted on..

What do you think? I have some really good polish and rubbing compound Has anyone ever heard of this before??? or am i just plain crazy

 

I don't think it will work. It doesn't go deep enough to remove paint, and if it did, it would bring your base coat with it.

I'm pretty sure the only way to get rid of that is to repaint the whole car if you want it to look right.

I also wanted to remove my disgusting pinstripe , the whole car feels like its a sticker stuck on but the front left fender feels like its painted on , i cant scratch anything , i think they clearcoated over it , anyone have any ideas or am i forced to repaint , if anyone has repainted how much is an estimate of painting the car?

Most likely if you have a painted pinstripe on only part of your car, and the rest is a sticker, than that part has been in an accident.
