***Indiglo Guages***

Greg on custommaxima.com used to sell 6 color indiglos. I want to know what part is the switch. Is it the peice that has a blue, green, silver and black 1/4 circle? Do they make any annoying humming or buzzing sounds. I have notice that some indiglos have a hole for the low fuel light. Do I have to get the ones that have the cut out for the light?
I have a 97 SE.

Thanks for your help

I prefer the reverse indiglos. They are easier on the eyes and are newer so fewer people have them.

As of right now there are no reverse indiglos available for us with 98-99 Maximas. I searched all over to find some, but had to settle for the 2 color indiglos from Greg. They look good, but reverse are nicer. The reason the 97 reverse gauges dont fit our 98-99 is because the fual guage is backwards on the 97 (needle points left while our's points right).

Yes, get reverse indiglo. I have the 6 color indiglo and its not really 6 colors. I never use then either. I just turn them off nad I have a white background with lighted neddles. Looks pretty kool to me like that. Indiglo will eventually crap out on you too. Resistor or capacitor or something like that usually only lasts for a year or two. The only people that turn on my guages are my friends.

So the indiglo is too bright?

Say I'm driving from NY to FL mostly in the night, will my eyes start to hurt or burn because of the bright glow?

Typically when you want to see at night its best if you are in a dark enviroment. Turn all your lights on in your house and see how well you can see out at night. You can't.

there is a brightness control so you can "dim" them....

Yeah, you can dim the indiglos but they just still seem bright to me. Personally, I like the idea of lighting up the numbers, not the background. Plus the colors of the reverse indiglos will better blend w/ my other interior lights. I'm a little worried to hear that they may wear out in only a year though. I don't want to take my cluster out and apart again after I install them. Oh well, we'll see.

When you put on your lights, does the indiglo guages light up indiglo or the regular black and there is a seperate switch to make them light indiglo? I'm confused. On the 2 color, I've noticed that there is a switch on it, I am thinking that you can use them black or indiglo whenever you want?
I hope I explained myself correctly.

Thanks for your help

But when I remove the factory white faces won't the bulbs still be part of the guages? Can't I run a seperate switch for the indiglo,
I want to use the black when the lights are on and indiglos off. Then when I want, put the indiglos on.
Understand?

The indiglos are layovers. They go over you factory gauge faces. Also, they are not transparent so no light will shine through them from behind. WIth the reverse indiglos though you'll probably want to leave the bulbs in so that the needles and miles driven are still lit. Hope this helps.

Can't the factory faces be removed so my idea can work?
