Who's gotten the best deal on their 2k2 maxima

Hi. I am interested in buying a new 2k2 maxima GLE. I was just wondering how much everyone bought their maxes for. How close to the invoice price have people gotten their maxes for in the socal area near pasadena. So far I'm thinking about getting a stock maxima with no options. Are there any options that I should get that I can't live without? Any other things that I should know when buying a maxima? Thanks. Any information will be helpful.

BTW. How hard is it to find a majestic blue maxima. I like that color the most. Anyone know any good dealers around my area? I've only been to Wonderies on Main Street. Thanks again.

I got a 2K2 GXE

Not exactly what you're looking for but I got a 2K2 Maxima GXE for invoice + $70 to get it driven up from Oregon (the dealer had no GXEs, and they're hard to find) + $400 advertising fee back on 11/30/01. That was the lowest quote I got. The other quotes I got were invoice + 1% or 2% or $1000 (depending on the dealer) + $400 adv. fee. A local auto broker said they could get it for invoice + $400 adv. fee + $250 fee to the broker.

It sucked that I had to pay the adv. fee but every dealer and the broker mentioned it. Also it seems rather controversial on here and Usenet as to whether it's legit, but www.edmunds.com claims it can be "Advertising Charges:
Most vehicle invoices include a legitimate advertising fee levied by either the manufacturer or regional dealer groups. Ad fees can range from less than 1% of the vehicle's MSRP to more than 3%, depending on region. Metropolitan-area dealers are more likely to charge higher advertising fees than rural dealers. When you comparison shop for a car, be sure to ask the dealers how much the advertising charge is on the vehicle. "

Re: I got a 2K2 GXE

just purchased an SE 6M (Blue Maj. w/frost leather)with everything but Meridian/HLSD/NAV for invoice @ $27,135 or $26,135 including the $1K rebate which included a $500 regional marketing fee that all dealers in the area pass on to the buyer. More than that I am sooooooo glad to be rid of the Passat.

i have gotten one of the best deals i have seen on this forum. i got a 2k2 6m HLSD, Meridian, Leather, Bose, etc(no nav). Sticker was $30,800+$995 BS paint protector. I walked with it for $25,500 and got 5.5% financing(i have good credit and opted out of the 3.9 for a $1000 rebate instead.). Tax and everything brought it to $27 even. no bad, eh? This is in the ATL.

ah ****. i was happy to see that someone paid around what i did then i saw that you had nav too :Slant:

HLSD 6-Speed loaded without navigation. $29,100 with 3.9%

i think i may have gotten the worst deal out of everyone. and it was actually a GOOD deal compared to what i could get other dealers down to.

Fantastic deal. If I can get close to that deal this Summer, out with the 2K, in with the 2K2, the only thing I would want different is the color, Silver Mist for me. By the way, how do you like your Majestic Blue.

My wife and I will pick it up on Monday. I had moot court at school today and was unable to go with her to complete the paperwork so we will have a looooong lunch on Monday.
It was difficult to decide between the sterling mist/charcoal and the majestic blue/frost.
IMHO The sterling mist looks more 'sporty' while the blue seems more 'luxurious' but a 6M is a 6M. I am kinda glad we couldn't afford her initial choice of a Sequoia SR5
As far a marketing fees it is $500 in the Cincinnati area but this varies throughout the US according to a Nissan dealership owner.

Has anyone NOT had to pay for advertising fees. I don't like that. Why should people pay for dealers to advertise the cars. I read or heard somewhere that you don't have to pay that fee.

I got a SE 02 without nav, meridian or traction control. $26,282 + $1000 rebate.

Note: I didn't pay an advertising fee.

I paid no advertising fees and the salesman made no mention of an advertising fee. Actually, I had never heard of this until reading this thread. Because I had a trade-in and the dealer threw in some freebies it's difficult to determine how good of a deal I got. This deal also included the $ 1000 rebate. But, after crunching all the #s it looks like $500 to $ 1000 below invoice for an SE / auto / Bose / side airbags etc. with MSRP 28,384. I don't recall exactly but invoice was somewhere around 25,400 but don't quote me on it. Better double check that with Edmunds.

Re: Re: Re: I got a 2K2 GXE

If there is one in your area, I would highly suggest going to CarMax . They not only sell used cars, but also brand new vehicles WAY below ($2,000-$3,000) MSRP. Best part is, no hageling ... you either pay what they ask or you end up walking. Because there are soo few CarMaxs, finding a Nissan dealer CarMax may require some traveling ... only locations are:

Chicago
Greenville (SC)
Milwaukee
Washington DC/Baltimore

I live in the DC area and have been looking around for a new Maxima for some time now, but still can't afford it since I just moved into a new house. However, to give you an idea of what their prices are, here is an example:

2002 Nissan Maxima SE 4D Sedan (bare bones SE)
No Haggle Price: $22,495*

* Price includes $1,000 purchase rebate ending 04/01/2002.

I do know that they will transfer cars from one CarMax to another, so if you find one NOT in your area, but there is a CarMax nearby, they may transfer the vehicle.

After just 60K miles on a 96 we were sick of:
the constant check engine lights that cost $60 a pop to reset
various electrical issues that caused us to replace the entire dash
mysterious leak that left frost on the INSIDE after a cold night
wheel bearings and rotors that went bad after about 30K miles
dirty air filter which caused a check engine light and cost $100 to reset the light and replace the filter

However, if we could take the manual transmission/stick feel and the handling feel from the Passat it would definately be great to have on our two Maximas.

Jason-

How much was tax, and how much was "everything". Now I'm not feeling too bad about the $26,600 deal I got on my $30,800 MSRP because I didn't allow them to tack on any "everything"

i chewed them down to 25,500. then they had a non-negotiable $499 advertising/dealer fee. than 5% tax and $40 in tax and title brought the grand total out the door to $27,300. not bad i think. i love the car except for the grinding of the gears, especially third.

I'm pretty close to what you are after. I bought my '02 GLE at Irvine Nissan (Internet sales) last November for $26,080. Only options are 4-wheel splash guards, mats and spoiler. There were no Nissan incentives available at that time. Good luck.

Not sure about prices out west, but I got my '02 Maxima SE fully loaded w/o Navigation for $27,500, actually had a deal for $27,000 ($800 below invoice) but the dealer was an a**h*le so I toyed with him and left him high, dry, and red... I thought it was a pretty good deal... think about using insanely low numbers to leverage your negotiations... I did, and if you hassle them enough, you'll get a really good deal... just be patient, and stick to your guns... if they wanna sell... they will go down...
