what's going on. i have a 99 maxima and i'm about too install ground-control coilovers and kyb-agx shocks on my max. i bought the cattman dust boots and i found out that the front dust boots obviously are way too big and they don't fit inside of the ground-control spring. now my question is will the stock front dust boots fit inside of the ground-control spring? if not, what should i use? for the people with this setup, what did you guy's use? i would greatly appreciate any feedback from anybody. much appreciated. thanks.

 

I installed the AGX/GC this last weekend and Nismo and I couldn't get the dustboots to fit over the bottom threaded sleave of the GC. I noticed that you said the front, so you got the rear dustboots to fit? The dustboots I brought from Cattman does not fit back or front and neither does the stock dustboots. So I had to install without no dustboots and I have talked with other members of the org and they are running without no dustboots as well. I don't know how this will affect the agx.

 

hey thanks for the info. i appreciate it. well i don't want to install them without the dust boots. a little bit risky. there has too be somebody out there that installed dust boots with this setup. anybody else have any info?

 

i have kyb agx/weapon r coilovers....i didnt use dust boots...what r they and what do they do???

how long have you been going without them? how is it going?
its been 3 months without dustboots on my front agx, and its doing fine but i dont know if i like the idea of not having it, espeically in bad weather and such.
WILL it affect my agx??

The lack of dust boots should not be a problem.
The shock piston shaft is made of some ultra hard material that will not be deteriorated by dust or other particles.

The problem is not deterioration of the shaft itself, but that dirt and dust will stick to the shaft, and when the strut compresses all that crap will go inside the strut, and that could cause problems

 

how much of the shaft actually enters the strut body during normal/street driving?
i mean, if the shaft is dirtty, how much of that is actually going in? isnt it also kinda tight for all the stuff to enter the body?

how much damage COULD it do? i wonder
