Franken Intake installed today, where's the.....
LOW END POWER? Either The installation was screwed up, or im feeling an even worse low end than with just my Stillen Intake. I don't know what to do. I floored it, and it feels like it has half the power until it gets to like 3-4 RPM. Steve?
i'm here now. i don't know what to tell you, there are pictures on the website and now one else has complained about this, maybe you have a leak somewhere. everyone has said that the low end feels better with the mid section.
It's called a "hot air" intake for a reason.
Welcome to low end loss kid, get used to it, or get a CAI.
Actually I have no idea how it could get worse than a just plain stillen?? All your doing is removing the resonator and other power robbing things and replacing it with Steve's tubing, so your air flow increases and your power increases.
You most likely did something wrong or something is wrong with your ECU, this makes no sense.

OK. I haven't weighed in here until now. But I'll make a couple of comments.
You will probably experience some loss of low end power when you install an underhood cone intake. There are two reasons for that:
1) Heat soak from the engine.
2) Modifying the intake geometry.
That's why there doesn't seem to be much of a performance advantage to running an underhood cone intake versus using the stock airbox and installing an OSCAI+K&N combo. If there is a performance advantage to underhood cone intakes, it likely occurs at higher rpms. But there are other reasons you might want to install a cone intake. The stock airbox isn't nearly as pretty as a cone intake when you pop the hood. And you'll never get the giant sucking sound at WOT from an OSCAI+K&N that you'll get from a cone intake. Whether cone intakes actually increase performance or not, they always SOUND like they're increasing performance. And in the final analysis, the only thing that counts is how you feel behind the wheel.
BTW, I'll be installing my Berk Tuning intake next week! $60.00 is about all I'm willing to spend to hear my intake suck air!

I've just removed my FrankenCar intake last weekend and went back to stock. I did this because of a blown MAF on my car and I didn't want to give the dealer any excuses. I definitely feel a major difference in power. The car is quite a bit weaker now. I've even got the slight 'bog' back that occurs when the variable intake switches. I miss the power of the FC, don't really miss the noise, and am not going to be putting the FC back on the car. That's right I've got it for sale. This is in no way saying that I wasn't happy with it as it did everything Steve claimed (I've got dynos to prove) but I'm not interested in swapping the stock setup in whenever the car goes to the dealer.
I feel that I must stress that I DO NOT believe that the MAF blew because of the FC intake as I had it installed for over 8000 kms of the 17000 kms that are on my car. It's a quality unit.

The dealer said the Stillen stuff will not void the warranty. My butt dyno is not working so all I can tell is that the sound at 4000 or so rpm is nice. It is louder at higher speeds. In terms of low end, no idea. Have to go back to a stock and drive back to back to determine.

1.I was lookin at the intake, and they didn't install the brackets you made up. Instead it has the Stillen gold bracket which holds the filter in place. I cann't move the filter, and so I think the whole intake system isn't completely straight. Due to this, the hose section closest to the filter may have a leak because there is a small gap where they are supposed to commect.
2. I was lookin in your instructions with the pictures, and the hole on the intake section faces the front of the car. I can't tell that much from your instruction, but in the picture, it looks like the hole is in the back.
3. The problem that medicsonic had, can you be more specific? Maybe something similar occurred with me.
Thanks.

My guess is that there's little or no difference in performance among the various underhood cone filters now available for 5th Gen Maximas.

**UPDATE**
I was supposed to go to LI Motorsports today but those ****s were closed
But anyways, Hogan took a look at the intake and saw that one of the pieces was loose, and he had to remove the original Stillen Bracket and did a "custon bend" (basically beat it down with a hammer) So he then made sure everything was tight, and intake feels better. Im goin to E-Town next week to check it out. Thanks Hogan

I like the look and feel of the Frankencar intake but the noise is somewhat irritating at the moment... When normal driving I can hear it at around 2.5k rpm... I was hoping it didn't make noise until higher up.

That means I have to buy a $100-something dollar filter just to make it quieter.
