interesting car dying problem. Alternator??
went to store and got out, was getting back in car, turned key, nothing happened as far as engine, everything cranked up as far as electronics, lights etc... so its not the battery, although it was low a few days earlier (it has been filled). The car was acting like the clutch wasnt pushed in all the way, but it most definitely was. i called a tow truck, and sat in the car turning it on and off and so on, 30 minutes later, and for no apparent reason, it started up. it doesnt alway sound like its a great start up, it struggles a bit at times, but very random. Also the car could not be jumped. any ideas? if yall need more details, let me know.
test more
You might not have enough juice in the battery to crank the engine even though you have lights. At night, turn on the headlights and try to start the engine. If the lights dim when you try to start, then juice is getting to the starter circuit. If the lights don't dim your problem is elsewhere.
Do you hear the starter turning, but not the engine cranking? Or the starter does not turn either? When my starter failed a few weeks ago, everything else was fine (stereo, lights, etc.), and the starter turned, but the engine did not crank.
it was the starter
i recently did the regrease and i wonder if that shortened the life or extended it, none the less, be forewarned, that the regreasing technique may not work as well as we hope. Also, I am having the starter repaired for 40 dollars... Dealership wanted 375 to replace. ill keep you updated regarding the repair.
starter question
How many miles do you have on your Max? Was the starter ever rebuilt or replaced before? I'm not talking about just regeasing. Maybe it is worth having a starter shop go through the whole starter instead of just regreasing it.
Re: interesting car dying problem. Alternator??
similar thing happened to me. It was my starter. went through 2 dealers before it was traced back to the starter. I had an extended warranty and it was replaced under that warranty.
