What do you prefer -- black door pillars or painted?

I have a pearl white 97 MAX and I kinda like the black door pillars as the window section looks nice and smooth (smooth lines that is)...

but, theres another post I just came across and it seems that getting paint on the pillars is very easy (just remove the black vinyl tape)

So, what do YOU think?

Has anyone with a pearl white 97-99 done this? pics please!!!

i did this to my 96,tan,SE... when i was done at first it looked kind of funny cause i was seeing black rubber stripping above the pillar and below it as well, after a while it grew on me so it's ok, nothing special. if you want to be original in minor ways go for it, otherwise it's just a quick fix for a maxima owner like a crack head feenin' for another hit.

You can just barely make it out. I think it looks pretty good.

It would look better than you have now, cause the vinyl would be brand new as oppossed to the faded vinyl you have now.

My pervious car (88 Buick LeSabre) had painted pillars. I think it is esthetically pleasing to the eye. Sure sets a car apart from all the other Japanese non-painted ones.

Go with the vinyl. Especially if you have tinted windows. It makes the whole window/door area look like one.

I prefer them black. Unless the door frames are similar to the ones on the New VW Jettas they should remain black. For one thing painted B-pillars look low-rent. Just look at the past generation Corollas, misc. Korean cars, etc. The base model cars usually have painted B-pillars whereas the highline trims have them blacked out. With the color-keyed pillars, the profile of the car is interrupted.

Also, when I see painted B-pillars on a car that doesn't come from the factory that way, I always think that the owner took the car to a careless body shop.

i have been looking in to taking the vinyl off and i was looking at two of my frends maximas, both being black one an SE,the other GLE. Both had the paint exposed, so i think if the body paint is black then they dont come with vinyl, but if its other colors they come covered.

.

If you have no tint I'd do it. Dark tint looks best with the black.

pictures

I did this mod last weekend and took some pics...

before... http://images.cardomain.com/installs...463_4_full.jpg

after... http://images.cardomain.com/installs...463_5_full.jpg

I like it....it makes the max look more "full" looking, and classy. Decide for yourself...

Peace - Chad
