? about rims and tire weight

ok I have my chrome rims and they weigh in at 52lbs with tires.
Alot of people I talk to say man that is heavy
So I ask them them what is a good weight and they say
40-45 with tires. So is 52 lbs bad are should I get some different rims 52-45=7lbs does not seem that big of a deal am I wrong?

Now thats not a big deal, stock rims for the max are a little above 45 lbs i think, or around there. I have regular 18's and my weight i think is a little over 50. So no, it is not that heavy, i mean if u had 15 inch rims with that weight it might be a bit, but still there chrome they weigh alot. don't worry about it, if u want to read how size of rim and weight effects performace, do a search and there are some threads that have broken it down to a science of what is what when it comes to size and weight.

Here's a little info. The front wheels are unsprung weight. For each pound gained on the wheels, it's like 8lbs in the car. So 7x2x8 = 112 (?). That's like an extra 112 lb person sitting in your car. Do you think that makes a difference?

My 17X8 SSR Integrals weigh in at 18 lbs plus my tires at 24 lbs. I had a set of 17X8 GS400 that weighed 25 lbs per wheel. I did noticed that my acceleration and city mileage is better on with the SSR's. Then again, the ride comfort and highway mileage was better with the GS400 wheels.
