I've had my 96 GXE (auto) for a few weeks and it seems like I am missing the dead pedal (the one to rest the left foot). guys.. was there a actual rubber, plastic , vinyl or whatever..pedal there or is it just a layer of carpet covering the dead-pedal area? I have the just a layer of carpet, but it sure seems like there is a piece missing there.

 

There is a little piece of vinyl that sticks to the carpet, but mine has been gone for a long time.

I wouldnt worry about it.

 

i read somewhere on a certain number of midwest-->west cars it was never installed, something wrong at assembly plant. Most ppl didnt notice so there was no recall or anything. This only affected gxe's too. I guess u got asked out of a dead pedal.
