I cut my stock shifter, and finnaly installed shift ****, what do u guys think...pics

I cut it down about about 2.5 inches i would say(just about where the shifter has a little divet in it for the boot) and i must say it feels so much nicer. I know there is no gain performace wise but it is asthetically pleasing. Any comments apreciated.

btw the shift **** is the same one as in my sig.

Whatever your cost plus $20 for every hour it takes you to make one is a fair guesstimate to me. If it takes you 5 hours, you may need to adjust that number, but don't rip yourself off by taking 5 hours to make one and sell them for $10 over what it costs you. I would be VERY interested once you get around to it, keep us posted.

well becasue i dont get discounts on any of the stuff, just for the materails alon u are looking at about $73. It would take me like 2 hrs to get it all done right so i dunno. i think $110 is a fair price considering how much other illuminated ***** cost.

*on a side note, i can make the pattern(illuminated part) almost anything u want on there so thats a little bonus.

How didyou cut it down? did you just leave the shifter in place and cut it with a dremel or something? Does it shorten the throw or just bring it down from being as tall as the Sears Towers. Actually, I just want mine down and I could really care less about the actual performance of the throw. From what I've read, they just get more notchy with a performance shifter.

ok, heres the deal i still have to work out a few kinks bulb wise.

I guess in the list of options i can offer:

1.Differnt color illumination possibly up to 5 colors.(still looking for bulb condoms btw)
2.Differnt design pattern, almost anything u like as long as it fits. Also even after pattern is made it could be replaced for a differnt style. like after a year if u dont like it.

As for differnt type of shift **** i dunno if that will be possible but i will look into it but im sure i can do walnut wood and aluminum colors.

Fitment is another issue. There is no threading to the **** since i cut my stick shifter. As of now it sit pretty snug just cause of how tight it sits. If wanted it tighter you could add some glue or something or u could drill a hole and insert screw, something to that extent. Once i gut all the "bugs" worked out(proabably by this sunday) i can start selling them. I just want to make sure its good if ppl are gonna be buying them from me. Thanks for all the reponses.

i used a electric saw (small one)with metal blades took me aobut 10 min. I just held it in neautral with one hand wiht saw in the other. I knocked off 2.5inches, just aboive the divet. It also feels notchy like u said.

pros:

1.feels 100x better
2.sorta like the notchiness

Cons:

1. i have to riase armrest otherwise so it feels more comfortable
2. lose threading.
3. some ppl dont like notchiness

i think notchiness will go away thou once i add redlone tranny fluid,

hope that helped

Cut it down with a hacksaw. When you are cutting it down lower have someone hold the shifter in place (keep it in neutral, do this to prevent damage to any of the gears)

With my Stillen STS you have to give it a little push to get it in gear. It doesn't slide in like the Stock STS. The reason being is for power shifting or slamming gears. With the Stock STS it is easier to grind gears while power shifting.

i would think that it would be harder to shift when the shifter is shorter. do you have any problems with this, or what? i really like it though!

not harder to shift, but like i siad the shifts are a little more notchy and also during spirited driving i need to lift the armrest(it kinda gets in the way) but other than that it feels more solid, and also i think some of the notchiness will be gone once i chage the tranny fuild to reline.

do you think it would be better for other people to cut it down the whole 2.5", or like 1.5"? i would think that 1.5 would be the best of both worlds.

well i cut it down about 1.5 at first but it was a bit too high for me still and then i had to cut it again . Believe me its not something u want to do twice. If u dont mind the height then i guess u can cut it down 1.5 but otherwise i say 2.5 is about right. 2.5 is not that low honestly, i read that some ppl cut it down 4 inches , imagine that.

I'd be interested in one also. Is the grip the same size or larger than stock. Also, do you have room for the 6sp design.
