I THINK I got close to the N/A Auto 4th Gen record tonight

I did a search a while ago and I think the fastest N/A Automatic was either 14.9 or 15.0, Im not sure. Tonight I had my personal best but it could have been a faster as the track was just WRECKED tonight.

Automatic Tranny, JWT Popcharger, JWT ECU, Cattman Y Pipe, RT Cat, 16" GLE Rims/Tires on fronts, 17" Borbet Type E's on rear, little bit more than a quarter tank of gas

Run #1 15.35 @ 91.2 mph 0.96 r/t 2.33 60ft
Run #2 15.13 @ 91.59 mph 0.73 r/t 2.30 60 ft
Run #3 15.33 @ 90.09 mph 0.92 r/t 2.35 60 ft
Run #4 15.39 @ 90.07 mph 1.23 r/t 2.37 60 ft

I was manually shifting on every run tonight after Benblanco's 15.26 and I can honestly say it works. I still need to perfect my technique due to the fact that on every run but the 2nd, when I was shifting from 1 to 2, the shifter didnt catch on 2 and instead just went to D which gave me a bit of a shift lag. Oh yeah, on my 15.1 run, I beat a '72 Mustang (I know they arent that fast). After the race, the driver comes up to me and goes "Holy sh*t! I wasn't expecting that!"

The record would be 14.2 for an N/A auto 4th gen.. don in texas. you still have a ways to go hehe. after that i think 14.94 is 2nd fastest.

Nice! I think the other guy who ran a 14.94 have the similar mods as you with the exception of an upgraded VB.

BSwithTF (Travis) ran a 15.0X@92.Xmph with a 2.3X 60' in his 96 GXE auto. This is at over 1100' above sea level too. His mods are a Y-pipe, catback, UDP, CAI, ECU, 17" rims, and no gutting.

The only thing holding you back is the tires and torque convertor. Don basically has the same setup as you plus a convertor and better "racing" tires. With a 2.2x 60ft he ran a 14.8 @ 92mph without the n2o. If you don't plan on doing a higher stall convertor get some 205/50-15 drag radials.

Congrats on the good run. All your runs look nice and consistent. I have a 5 speed and was running 15.2's and 15.3's at the same track a week before. Nice job. Sorry to hear the track was in bad shape. I was the week before too.

Yes... but on the 14.2 run I don't think he was using NOS, seeing that with it he ran a 12-second run.

I disagree. Using nitrous oxide is an artificial method to get more oxygen and fuel into the cylinder. Since you are going beyond what the atmosphere alone can provide, it's not N/A.

While it's no "forced induction", it certainly isnt "naturally aspirated."

you are getting close. I didn't get into the 14's until I started running consistent 2.2x 60 ft times. Once I figured out how to drive at the track and got new tires, my car got really consistent. Keep up the good work for us automagic drivers.

Run with less than a 1/4 tank and lower the pressure on your front tires. Lose the weighted lead lined rims in the rear and that should almost be enough to pop into the 14's. Do you have an ECU upgrade too?

Where'd I get the idea that he ran 14.2 off the bottle? I thought he ran 14.2 off the bottle, on slicks, with weight reduction, and 12.2 on the bottle.

Yeah I was going to switch to all stocks but on one of my rear stock tires, metal was showing so I didnt think it was safe to drive out there on them, so I just used the front two.

As for the ECU upgrade, yes I have the JWT ECU.

Nice runs DCMax, I just ran my car today too(my first time), I ran a 16.81 uncorrected at 5830 Ft at 83.5mph, My 60ft times where horrible, 2.6 all three runs. But everyone at the track wasn't runnin very good, It was really slick. I am hopeing for low 16's by the end of the summer. Im probably gonna take the seats out as well as the spare. and see what my times will get down too. I also plan on doin the Vb in a few months.

What tires are you guys using????

With your stock rims for racing purposes? Are you reducing the sidewall on them for less rotational mass?

I used to manually shift my auto max all the time. My best runs were 15.10 @ 96.95 mph on a 2.560 ft time. At that time, I had a JWT ECU, Stillen Y, JWT Popcharger and HKS muffler. My tranny had been rebuilt with a high stall convertor and a shift kit. I was running on stock 3rd gen 15" GLE wheels, with 215/60/15 tires. Traction was a major issue.
Manually shifing an auto tranny (at least one without any type of VB upgrade) is bad. You can search around for a post that explains why. I lunched my tranny by doing so. Be careful launching also. I blew my rebuilt tranny one night on a wickedly vicious launch. I had dropped my tire pressure to 22lbs, and had some serious traction action. On the launch (at 1100 rpm) I hooked up like a pro-stocker (my 60' was a 2.09) then once past the 60' mark, I started to spin. When I backpedalled, the tires hooked with a vengeance. At that point, the sprag and my right front wheel bearings gave up the ghost. When the tranny came out(two days later), both side wheel bearings fell out
and my tranny was completely destroyed.
I had a 95 GXE auto.

Towards the bottom of the first page. Don said he ran the 14.2 with no power adders.
