Track discussion for the regulars (long)
Track discussion for the regulars (long)
Ok tonight I went out to RCR for the first time to do some runs. I originally intended to only do a few runs because I think I may have an exhaust leak or something else that would affect my times. After making 3 passes my times were all very close to 15.3@89-90 with 2.3 60's. I was pretty disappointed because even last time at Ennis I managed to run 15.2s with a best of a 15.1.
After letting my car cool for about an hour I entered the RCR Import Challenge (bracket racing). I felt good about bracket racing tonight because I was always close to 15.3. I set my dial in to 15.30 and won my first two rounds without too much of a problem. On the 3rd round it was a really close race but I broke out!! Nevertheless I placed top 6 of ~40 cars, but I was so close to placing.
My times for the night were:
15.4402@89.73 (left in 3rd)
15.4659@89.64 (shift to 4)
15.3797@90.79 (left in 3rd)
15.3017@90.63 (shift to 4)
15.4571@87.89 (braked and shifted to 4)
15.6766@81.4 (shift to 4, braked)
15.2533@92.09 (left in 3rd, Break out)
Overall I guess I'm a consistantly average driver :P
I also got a chance to weigh my car tonight and it weighed
3275 with driver and 3150 without (this is with spare, sub, etc.). I didn't remove anything because this was an impulse track attendance. My tires were set to 26psi front and 33 psi rear and my best of the evening was my breakout round of 15.2533@92.09. Most of the runs I shifted to 4th and got trap speeds of 89mph, but when I left it in 3rd I got the 92mph
This still seems a little slow for times and traps so maybe someone can comment on this situation.
Finally, for tonights fast 16 we had TT 300ZX's running low 13s, an RX-7 running low 12s, and a Turbo Miata on stock internals running high 11s/low 12s at 19lbs of boost. The Miata driver came up to me and started talking about Maximas and since he is from Lousianna he happened to know (and raced) Mardigras
The sad part of the evening was when the Miata broke a half shaft and was eliminated (he should have won).
-hype
