2002 Mustang V6 5 speed Race

Just went against a new mustang v6 5 speed with my STOCK auto 99 Max.
The guy chirped his tires on the 1-2 and the 2-3 and we were dead even the whole time. I just floored it -- no "shifting the automatic." I had two passengers as well(the mustang was driver only).

I was surprised how well my Max could hang. I thought I was going to get my clock cleaned. Anyway...I think with a y-pipe and CAI I should be able to pull on him. Maybe the VB mod would help as well.

This car impresses me more every day .

Never knew the 5 speeds were that slow. I knew the Autos ran the 0-60 in the high 7's but I figured a 5 speed would be able to beat an auto Maxima.

My brother has a 5-speed 2k Mustang

I blow him away each and every time (by 3-4 cars) in my Max.
When I was stock (Pre Y-Pipe), I beat him conistantly by 2 car lengths.

Mustangs are quite a bit heavier than our cars, and about the same hp.

Re: Hrmm.

Not to my knowledge... I think the only ones with stock duals are the V8 GT's. Also, A good thing to look for is the bumper cutout for the duals. If they're nonexistent, you have a V8. If the edges are unpainted, then you probably have a V6 With a Branching Flowmasters exhaust.

I know what you mean. I've seen a couple of the newer mustangs around with "MUSTANG" on the bumper and the regular mustang logo on the side in front of the doors but it has duel exhaust. It even has the stock 16" wheels but the thing sounds throaty. Are any of the GT's not "GT" marked from the factory?
