can we paint plate holding wheel studs?

the caliper is good to be painted but on my car, the large plate holding the wheel studs is rusty as a mother ****** and I hate the way it looks. Is it possible to paint it? or spray it with something to make it look like rotor again, all nice and silverish? my rims leave mid section area open a lot and it can be easily seen...pics will be posted soon.....

Are you asking about the rotor or the hub underneath?

I would just sand/cleanup the hub... paint is useless IMO cuz you won't see it.

You can paint the rotors but as Ben stated, mask off the area that will be 'swept' but the brake pads.

He means the Hub, I'm pretty sure.

Yes, Mecca, you can paint it. Just get a wire brush and scrub as much of the rust of as you can (The kind of wire brush that looks like a hairbrush at Home Depot).

Then paint. Brush on pain (IMO) works best.

i guess it's the hub, i mean that piece that holds the hubs...the plate in front of the rotor...dag, i wish i could take a picture. But if this is what you guys are talking about, then i'll go to home depot and get a wire brush, brush it off till...till when? will it still be rusty looking? or would it turn back to silver? and after that what should i do? wash it off with hose and start painting?...

I assume you mean the rotor hat and yes that's fine to paint. Just do what the moderator recommends, and don't paint the shiny rotor surface that the brake pads contact.

I used high-heat black header/exhaust spray paint on my rotor hats. If you don't use high-heat paint, it will flake off & look pretty bad in a short time because of the extreme heat your brakes can generate.

Use header paint or high-temp engine enamel.

Don;t forget a little brake cleaner will help out along with the other suggestions. Paint it a different color than your rims to make a contrast. Just remember take your time with the paint brush and you will get great results! Good luck and have fun.

high temp paint on the center surface of the rotor...cover the actual braking surface of the rotor with towels or something. If paint DOES get on the rotor, wipe it off.
