fiber images carbon fiber hood for 97 maxima

I have a problem with my carbon fiber hood. According to instructions from Cheston on his website Maximadriver you replace the factory hood and lower the hood latch down. But after lowering the hood latch as far as it can go down I find that the right side of the hood sits flush with the fenders but the left side has a little bit of gap for wind to get into. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Is it cause the hood could be warped? Or could I solve this problem with additional hood pins?

I believe a lot of people are having that problem. Go to the groupbuys page and check out the thread about the hoods. I think about 3-4 of the people who just got their hoods all have the exact same fitment problem.

Almost all carbon fiber hoods have fitment problems. It doesn't matter what brand, or anything. They're made in a mold, and as such, you can't make everything perfect.

sounds like all you need to do is adjust that lil rubber stopper thing on the fender to make the hood sit a lil higher up, spin it counter-clockwise to raise the hood up.

goodluck,

Ant

Adjusting the rubber stopper does nothing, at least in my case it didn't. My hood isn't even making contact with the stopper. The hood mold they use is warped. Not much we can do about it short of hood pins.

has anyone tried to use hood pins yet? I think that might help out in this no win situation

Hood pins would definately make the hood flush... the drawback (in my mind) is that they are ugly as hell.

before i go spend money on getting the c/f hood, what do you think of it overall? i know you had fitment problems, but is it worth the cash compared to c/f hoods for other cars. as in, do you think the problems on the max are far worse than others and it's not worth it? thanks..

Could you get me some suggestions here please?

Please add a request here for CF hoods. Appreciate the help as I am developing an alternate solutions.

Depends how much you like the idea of saving a little weight. I purchased one because I was in an accident and ruined my stock hood. If I hadn't needed a new hood, I wouldn't have shelled out the cash for a CF hood on my maxima. Overall, I'd give the hood a 7 out of 10. Taking into account fitment and finish. I've still got more ideas on how to make my hood fit better, and if I can get the thing to fit flush all the way around, that rating will go up and I'll let you guys know.
