Rear Brake Noise

Does anyone have this problem?

It doesn't happen all the time, when I press the brake lightly, it makes a vibrating sound. It sounds like the pad is vibrating against the rotor. If I press the pedal harder it stops. If I let off, it stops.

I've tried having the rotors turned, and replaced the pads. I also installed a new "Anti Squeal kit"(those aluminum pieces that hold the pad). It worked for about a week. Everything was quiet. Now it's back. Off and on.

Any suggestions?

BTW, No ABS.

Just guesses here...
Recheck the shims
You did re-install the wires (springs) that hold the pads in place
Anti-squeal backing compund on the pads
Maybe measure the rotor runout (were they turned correctly?)

I had my rear pads & rotors just replaced but the stu&*p shop forgot all the little hardware. Lots of rattles and shuch.

A vibrating noise? Can you feel it in the pedal like a pulsation? Is it a high-pitched noise like brake squeal? Are you sure it's in the rear?

First guess:

Have the rotors checked by someone that has a clue (most don't) for runout. If it's warped, even a little bit, replace the rotor.

Second guess:

Replace not only the shims but all the brake hardware in the nissan OEM brake hardware kit and make sure you use the special lube they have in there for the spots that rub on the pads and anti-rattle springs/inserts. Spray anti-squeal spray (permatex is good) on the back of the pad and put the shim on the pad after the spray has dried to tacky... Make sure you're using OEM pads. I've had horrible luck with noise and dust from a variety of aftermarket pads.

Third guess:

Make sure the pins are lubed well. Make sure there is no noticeable play in the pins. That would be bad. Make sure everything is tightened to spec.

Good luck
