do we really have 190HP, most people's stock/moderately modded maximas dynos disagree
I saw the thread on dynos for 4th gens...how come most people's dyno results are between 167-188? Do maxima's lose HP over the wear and tear of time or is 190 HP stock an overstatement? I'm confused, could someone help to clarify this? Also, i am anxious to know much HP will my car have with PR CAI, cattman y-pipe, and V2 supercharger...does anyone have this setup? Thanks in advance guys

150hp number is dead on to what the car should be. Usually for a fwd car about 25% of the hp is lost translating from the engine to the wheels.

A lot of the ratings you see from manufactures are rated at the crank. Only a few companies rate their vehicles at the wheels (ie, Ford Lightning, SVT Cobra, & ZO6). Usually for a manual transmission, you lose about 15-20 hp%. Automatics lose about 20-25% hp.
An auto Max should be around mid 150hp (give or take). Majority of the stock 5spds put down about low 160hp range.

Look at my sig, or what there is of it right now...the v2 doesnt come until may 2002...i was not aware that the PR CAI was not compatible with the v2 SC. I am not very knowledgeable about the v2 SC. How does it conflict with the PR CAI? Thanks

What dynos were you guys on, dynojet, mustang, etc?
The results vary GREATLY!
Also Max425..The power loss to tranny is NOT 25%, if that was the case your tranny is shot, and your tranny needs an upgrade. Its about 12.5% depending on the condition and style of the transmition on the FWD car.
150-155whp is about right for a stock 190hpat the crank maxima.
However NEVER TRUST MANUFACTURER HP RATING.
The 2002 1.8t is about 195-200HP, and is rated at 180 for reasons leading to a marketing scam vw is trying to pull. Basically since the 1.8t is faster, and cheaper then vr6, it does not give vw good money for what they are doing. By lowering Hp rating on the 1.8t, they are able to sell more V(R)6 equipped cars. Always get a baseline dyno donewhen you get your car if you can.
Nissan engines are strong from the factory though, have a good life span as well if treated well.
