97 Maxima vs. 2k Maxima (why do people do this?)

Ok last night i was heading 84 west in CT when a teal maxima with stillen body kit, chrome rims, some neons and stickers gets next to me. He looks over and hits it. I can at least hear an intake roar but im not sure what else he had. Anyway he got the jump and I was at his back door till i hit 110 and pulled about a car on him by 125...after i got about a car on him no one was pulling so i let off and signaled victory. All of a sudden he flys by me puts on his hazards and flips me off through the moon roof then proceds to drive 55 when i try to get him to bite again. Whats up with people like this. Is he mad that a 5 year old car with less power and 3 people in it beat him...i think he had 2 people by the way. Anyway im auto with y-pipe, b-pipe and CAI. Im pretty sure he was auto since his right hand was on the wheel when he gunned it.

My first race was against a stock 2K GLE, yes I know this isn't a fair race but still he picked it(I have a 95 5-spd, it was stock at the time). The guy was riding my but and as I come to a light he pulls up next to me and revs. I race him up to 60, have at least a car length on him before I slow down do to traffic in front of me and he flys by, no wave no nothing. . . It just goes down to people thinking they always have a better car and not taking into account what the other may have.

That's why I never flash my hazards anymore. To many fools out there sneaking ahead and flashing at that brief moment they're ahead. I had one car slingshot past me fom like 10 cars back, I let him pass and proceeeded to chase him down. But no, he flashed his hazards as I was reeling him in. So bogus. If I challenge someone, we make a go at it. We both know who will have won, we will know who had the better car/driver. No need to flash hazards.

Don't sweat the fact that he flicked you off and did a ricer fly-by...remember just becuase he has a Maxima doesn't mean he's gonna give respect.

5th gen's auto's are about .3-.6 slower than 95 autos in the 0-60...why? Becuase they are bigger and added weight. Dumb people think just becuase it has more HP it's faster. Also the revv limiter when left in 'D'. Quarter mile...i'd say very close because of their Variable timing, although the mags got 15.6 for a 2k 5-speed ...but what do the mags know?

Yes magazine times are usually off, and no time is the set time becuase to many variables are included, but for the 95-96 maxima I know they were pretty much dead on with the 5spd, so I do have some faith in them. ('95 GXE 5spd: 0-60 6.5 | 1/4: 14.9@94

Just curious where you got those numbers from? Anyways, too bad the SE can't get those times.

Makes sense. SEs are heavier with more standard equipment and beefier suspenion than a GXE, yet they both have the same exact VQ.

what about a 6 speed 5th generation vs. a 5speed 4th. Is the 4th still faster off the line?

Your right about the real world acceleration difference, I use to have an 01 auto and My 97 was a little quicker to 90.

ok

I talked to him today...he was pretty cool and i introduced him to the org. He has a 2k auto, y-pipe, cai, hiflow cat and some kind of ecu upgrade. He also has nitrous but wasnt using it. Anyway he said that i pulled on him and they thought i was using NOS or supercharged I guess we know that the 4th gen auto is faster than a 2k or 2k1 auto with equal mods. We might run again tonight to see the outcome but i had 350 pounds of people and he only had 120 so im proud of my car.

2K with ECU upgade? Uh maybe he knows something we don't know but maybe he can clue us in to who does it, and what benefits it gives brcause as far as any of us know, they can't do 97+ let alone 2K.

To be honest with you he said he saw it in super street(i asked him the same thing) so its probably one of those things like the jet chip that dont do a thing.

I would say mod for mod..........yes.

I'm a bit quicker than ru4real and he has a 2k1 AE. He has an intake an now he wants to go head up with me at the track. I'll still be stock too.

that extra weight will NOT account for 3 tenths and 2mph in the quarter mile...that's a significant difference...I haven't seen ANY stock 4th gen trap over 93mph...

4th Gens Rule

Once we have the ME VI, there will be no question that 4th gens will be quicker than a comparable 5th gen!

OK. I'm not stating hard facts, just rationalizations. You have the same exact motor in both cars, but one is heavier, so the heavier one will be slower. The GXE will be quicker. Despite that, I'd still prefer the SE
