Infinity G35 0-60 6.2

I just watched motorweek and they tested an Infinity G35 with the five speed automatic. 0-60 was a blistering 6.2 seconds! I just thought I would throw that out there for anyone who was curious about how it compares against the acura tl-s.

IMHO 6.2 is not blistering by 2k3 standards, even the Maxima brochure said 6.6 in 1998 (we know it was an exaggeration but hey, Nissan printed it).

I wish they had put hood struts in that car, kinda like they do in the 19k Camry.

I think the problem is fining hood struts that work all the time and never have to be replaced. . . Maybe they are learning that most would rather not deal with them. . . Sort of like the automatic seat belt fad of the late 80's.

Hood struts? This is a big concern? Personally, I don't care if they use hockey sticks to prop the hood open. For the number of times the hood needs to be opened, it's a minor issue, IMO.

6.2 is very respectable for an automatic GT car in that price range. Look at the competition. Not much that can touch it. The car is an Infiniti which, to me imparts the notion of luxury blended with sport as a side dish. The G35 is definitely the sportiest of any Infiniti yet.

thats what i thought, for an auto, its a great time, and i am willing to bet that the g35 that motorweek had wasn't even broken in yet; the car is probably heavy also.

and the 6-speed g35, can't wait for that one.

Slower than the Type-S, 2 people have already ran them, and beat them.

It's interesting how people compare manual transmission times with automatics...not even comparable!

The 6.6 for the 4th gen Maxima was from a 1994 test by Motortrend for a 5-spd SE. Now, when you have an automatic G35 that can do 0-60 in 6.2s, that's pretty quick, in the league of most luxury V8 automatic sedans.

Shall I say 3 people now. Go to www.acura-cl.com and tl.com and look. They are pretty recent.

come on russ, anyone can print any old bs on a bbs. that doesn't make it true. you know that better than anyone!

btw - did i mention i was out the other night and chased down a saleen s7 with my max? it's true... i even think the s7 might have been a manual

my post on an s7 message board: "just wanted to let you know that motor trend may have run a 3.7 in the s7 but a 4th gen maxima is faster. yep, it's true... check maxima.org."

http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...threadid=38964

I checked the TL board and found it. He said he beat the G35 by 8"-foot? And he also mentioned that the G35 had an extra passenger! The guy also fails to mention what speeds they went up to? Who hit WOT first? Not to mention he is a newbie poster

What I find funny is the TL/CL forum really seem to hate the G35. I like all cars and am excited about the new prospects coming out of Infiniti and Acura. I don't think the people at the other boards are as open minded as most of the people here. At least we can be open minded about other cars
