steerin wheel alignment questions...

my maxima was recently stolen bu recovered so i'm happy bout that...my problem is..when i got the car back..the sterring wheel would be turned a couple of degrees to the right..even though the car was going str8..i was thinking...all i need is an alignment right? this is where i get confused...as i look beyond the steering wheel..i see the whole ignition part (everything behind the steering wheel) turned at the same angle...its as if the whoel thing turned...will all that be covered with an alignment? i knwo it covers the steering wheel..but not sure abotu the rest...any help will be appreciated..thanks in advance

Sounds like your entire steering colum is bent or twisted. You may want to take your car to a body shop and have them take a look first.
