Turbo Project Update. Sorry it took so long...

Okay, here we go. Enough people have called and emailed me about not posting enough anymore. It's been really busy.

We've had 2 attempted break-ins at the shop and this morning about 4AM, someone broke into the Max at my mother's house. They tried to take audio components, but were unsuccessful. Total cost, $65 for new glass and aggrevation. It's okay. Not the first or the last time.

These idiots don't know my history, but I'm not to be provoked. (Many of you may remember my experiences with attempted car-jackings and squeezing off rounds.) I spent 2 nights at the shop with firearms awaiting unwanted visitors, but they never came. Probably better for ALL involved.

Anyway, I've gotten fantastic support from .org members and thought I should give back a little more.

Topic: Turbo!!!

Last month, I picked up a '96 5sp w/ 126k miles ($3200) for the project after someone bought my MKIV Supra project car (before it was done). We used the standard 300ZX T25, which had fast spool time but suffered on top end power.

Using a T3, Spearco intercooler, proper plumbing lines for air, oil and water, we put together a monster and tested the limits. The T3 still spooled fast , but had a lot more flow on the top end. I drove the car for about 3.5 weeks, every day tweaking, changing and rising boost levels and racking up miles. By about 11 lbs., we ran into fuel delivery problems. Using more auxillary fuel, we got all the way up to 17 lbs.!!! At that point, I was running with a C4 Vette, BPU'd RX7 and a BPU'd 300ZX.

I never got to the track or to the dyno. But at 17 lbs., it was LARGE FUN!!! (for a while) But then, as Keving says, BOOM!!!

We'll top it off around 11 lbs. this time and get to the dyno and track. We've chatted with Jim Wolf many times and he says he has mapped an ECU for this app for us.

Yes, this WILL be a kit to sell in 3 stages.

Stage 1: basic kit w/o intercooler (5lbs).
Stage 2: Stage 1 w/ Spearco intercooler & addt'l fuel pump/rail (8lbs).
Stage 3: Stage 2 w/ larger injectors and ECU upgrade.(11+ lbs.)

Suggested options: boost, air/fuel and egt gauges, boost controller, clutch upgrade, blow-off valve, S-AFC, etc. and a driving school.

Can do beutifications options like powder coating piping to any color, chrome, etc. and any other crap you may desire.

Warning! I know some of might want to push the envelope if you do this. We haven't attempted to take down the 10:1 compression ratio, so don't go wild with the boost levels. Aside from pre-detonation and the obvious dangers, you will run into CV joint knuckle shredding and the such. Remember, these engines were not made to be turboed, so use moderation and you'll STILL get big gains!

We'll use my car as the test mule again and when I get dyno sheets and pics, I'll post 'em up.

This effort cost us around $8-9k. In the end, when all is said and done, we'll probably sell these kits for around $3700-$4000 for the basic kit.

Over time we'll prove the program and start selling. There has been TONS of interest around the BAY Area since I took that car around and raced ANYONE I found.

Anyway, this has been taking a LOT of my time, but it has been fun. Everyone expects a Supra to be fast, but they don't expect a Max to run with or away from established supercars.

I'll keep you updated...

Let the questions BEGIN!!!

Oh yeah, in this I also used the new Stillen SC for about 8 days. After what we've discovered, don't need it anymore. Will sell for the first $3100.

If we have a meet at Autohaus you've got to bring this beast. Even if I'm in South Florida I might have to make the trip up to see this thing.

That's the Tampa Bay area. There is more than 1. I did live in that Bay area as well 2 years ago. right in Silicon Valley in San Jose; Campbell to be exact, close to Los Gatos.

from your Cardomain site-->

"To compensate for the lag, we decided to apply a 100-shot of NOS at the lower RPM range until the
boost comes on. We'll see how this theory works..."

on the stock motor???

That's now out. I was going to attempt that when I was planning the SC with intercooler. No more SC.

Will be selling both from the shop and mail order.

Just to clarify due to the tremendous amount of emails, pm's and calls, this kit is still in development stage. That first car was a test mule. The kit will be tried and 'trued' on my car next. BELIEVE ME, you'll know when this kit is completed and ready for sale with pics and dyno runs posted...

Oh, and the 5sp tranny on the old car IS spoken for by TAI MAI SHU for the conversion of his I30.
