Manual Trans. Problems---Help

Problem: When the engine in cold and the weather is cool (below 60 F) the transmission grinds (manual 2k) when shifting into second from first. After about 15 minutes of running the problem goes away. It does not grind from third to second but it is noticibly more difficult to get it into gear than the other gears (from third to second).

This started to occur after I had my tranny fluid changed at a garage. They first put in GL-4 but when I started to have the problems they put in GL-5. They flushed it again and put in GL-5 another time to make sure the GL-4 was not in there anymore. Also, the first and second time they drained the fluid, they did it throught the side in some type of valve (a cap followed by a spring and then a ball bearing). The third time they drained it I informed them that the drain plug (speedo-sensor) on the bottom of the tranny was the right place to drain from.

My question is did the garage damage my transmission by having the wrong fluid in the tranny (1k miles) or by messing up the valve they drained the fluid from? Could the fluid they be using be crap? Or is the tranny just out of tune? What could cause the grinding?

I'm planning on going to the dealer to see if they can fix it but I just want to know as much as possible before I go in just in case they try to dodge the warranty repair.

Thanks for any help...
Paul
