Solo Baric L7 VS> JL audio subs

All i have heard is that the Kicker L7 is the best sub on the market. They have set the world record for loudest db ever recorded. I have one 10inch and it is louder than most people's 2 12's and 15's. My friend expects to hit about 150db's with his one 12 in a Vented spl box.. These subs always win competitions and blow everything else away.. So why do so many people have jl audio subs? They are increadibly expensive.. has anyone compared them? Which do you guys think is better?

it depends what you like...for me, i love my 2-12" L7's and wouldnt trade em for JL's...except maybe w7...but my friend has 3 10" W3's running w/ a PPI amp and its awesome; its so clean and hits really hard; but he cant touch the looooow bass that my L7's get...

It's a simple matter of the difference between sound quality and sound quantity. Since the ears pretty much go numb and deaf above 125 dB's, and I have always tried to enjoy how my system sounds, I choose quality. You can get quantity even cheaper with coustic or whatever wal*mart stocks.

What about Clarity?

I'm not as concerned with hard hitting bass as I am with nice crisp bass and clear sound. Any sub will give you some bass, I want some quality ish I have K-series coaxes for the rear deck fill waiting to be installed as soon as I pick out some nice components for the front, (DEI 3065 most likely) but I'm not far from subs and amps... How are the L7s on clarity?

A lot of people like the L7's. But people always like louder. I haven't heard them installed or in a hard test side by side. I just know they are loud. If you are looking for clarity without breaking the bank I would look at adire. I wouldn't spend much more, or less on a sub than on a pair of components in the same setup.

L7s are all BOOM. The way it was explained to me by a very good Car Audio guy was Sound waves move like ripples after you through a rock into a lake(round) and a square sub could not reproduce this as well as a round sub could. So yeah the larger "cone area" makes more noise but that is all it is....... NOISE

That is not true at all. If you have ever heard L7's they are one of the BEST sounding subs out there not only the loudest

They may radiate equally from a central point but I basically think the guy didn't know what he was talking about and made that up to sell you what he sells which aren't kicker products. Remember, audiophiles love planar speakers. And they are directional high frequency drivers that are not round.

w00t w00t. lol. adire baby.

ok, back on topic. i'd take an L7 anyday over the W7. i think the w7 isn't worth the money.

oh, and the L7 being all boomy and loud, that all depends on the enclosure. i think most people who have the L7, are going for SPL, so they go with the ported box. but the few people i've seen with the L7 sealed, have very good sound quality, and it still gets loud. it's all about enclosures.

just my opinion...
