Question about PRCAI (NOT PRCAI vs. anything!)

Hopefully someone's gonna read this, because this isn't a "which should I get?" kind of question. I've already decided that if I get an intake, it's going to be a PRCAI. I need the driveability and I'm auto, so it's not like I'm going to feel the top-end from a pop. My question is just about sound...

I already get that CAI's sound great and they're loud and blah blah blah. What I want to know... is the sound from a CAI incredibly noticeable under normal acceleration? Nice sound is great when you're accelerating hard and driving fast, but I'd rather not be heard from all the way down the street when I'm driving like a sane person (which I admit isn't very often). Plus, in the neighborhood I live in I'd probably get my head cut off for it... which is why I'd never even consider a loud exhaust...

So, how loud is the CAI under normal driving? Assuming the response is "not all that loud" then I'll probably be getting one next month... or sooner.

(By the way... I'm off to install the FSTB I got from my friend for $15 )

I agree...I just installed mine last week. Under normal acceleration you will not notice it. FYI, if youre looking to get it in a month then I suggest ordering it now. I had to wait 3 weeks to get mine. It was worth the wait though.

only you yourself will notice the sound difference at low rpms. it's not as quiet as the stock air box, but it's also not loud enough to wake anybody up. you might even hear a quick little whistle sound too.

Just got mine and was concerned about that aswell. But, i have found that under normal to hard acceleration you cant tell a difference. It is only a WOT that you can really hear the thing, and yes, it gets loud!

I'll be ordering mine from custommaxima.com as well. To be honest, I'm not too concerned if it takes over a month to get here. I'm going on a road trip soon, so I'll probably order it a week or two before I leave so I'll have it when I get back.

Just a question, how many of you are using the prcai with K&N filter as opposed to the Monster flow? Would their be any sound differences in the two?

I doubt there is a sound difference. I'm running a K&N on mine.

I ordered mine through custommaxima also. It took 3 weeks but definitely worth the wait.
