Interior Cosmetics with Beige Leather.

I have a 98 GLE with Beige Leather inside. Are all the interior mods i.e. aluminum dash kit, door inserts, shift *****, etc going to look rediculous on this color of leather?

I dont think it would look right with the tan interior, same reason I havent done any of these mods yet. I would love to see some pics of someone that has taken the chance and tried it...but I dont know that Ive seen anyone on the Org that has.

yeah, i was thinking about getting a dash kit and stuff for my tan interior, but it would look just plain UGLY...so i have refrained from any interior mods because i don't think i could get anything to really look too great...so i'm sticking with the plastic wood...good enough for me

The Only GLE beige interior mods:

I also have a tan leather GLE Max, and one of the few things I plan on doing to mod it is add Chrome trim rings around the guages. That on the black guages will look really sharp, IMO.

I have seen a thread about these (they are pic'd w/ SE white guages) and seem to run about $60. I dont know how readily available they are and anything about the ease of install. But I will be looking into this. I honestly think these will look better on the GLE guages vs SE white guages.

Two other others thing I would like to do is bring the wood trim all the way up the center stack including the center air demisters. I wish I could locate a "finishing kit" for our GLE. the second is a auto dimming rearview mirror with compass and temp guage. has anyone istalled this in their gen 4 max?

That is all I plan. I would like to do the the chrome bezel rings 1st.

regarding finishing off the wood trim, you can find a junked I30 and maybe pull the pieces from there and then put them on the max...don't know how hard it would be to get the trim pieces off a junked car though

If I remember correctly, the I-30 center stack is a different design than Max's. I dont think the I-30 has pieces I can use. Correct me if I am wrong.

from my memory, our 96 I30 has the same design as my 97 GLE, in regard to the dash pieces...except the hazard and rear defogger buttons are reversed...but i believe the design is still the same..i'll check it out tomorrow

im glad someone posted this cuz im in the same boat here, i completely agree about the wood trim not going all the way up, it would have looked much better if they had done this..i wish someone made some type of "finishing kit" to complete the wood trim, i suppose we could always buy a whole new wood kit from joshua tree or someone like that; also i know im gonna get the reverse indiglo gauges and replace the security and window switch led's with another color, most likely blue; u could replace ur automatic/manual shifter with a wood trim/chrome one, that might look nice too

Let me help with this.

You can get the wood piece for the A/C if it is the automatic version.
As far as the vents go, I have seen pics of the factory wood piece to match but they are from Cefiros.

Pics of my tan interior. With the chome gauge rings.

Don't get the Levoc shift ****. It doesn't match the wood; it's a little bit lighter.

Here are pics of the dash of a Cefiro wagon with the pieces you are looking for. Nissan Japan Website.

I got this pic on some japanese site on the web. Couldn't translate so I could not order it.

Hope this helps.

I want to thank you all for the input. Seems like with a little researching, I can locate what I want perhaps. The Cifero piece looks like it could do the trick (although our Max does not have the center adjustment on the demister, it could still work). I guess I need perhaps to start posting WTB ads and looking on eBay.

I ordered my Chrome rings to go on the guages already. Thanks to Kevin Wong, I will have these in Approx 3-4 days!

Question, does anyone know what aftermarket wood trim kit matches the existing wood in the 95-96 GLE? I may just buy an entire kit for the 2 0r 3 pieces I am looking for. May cost a bit more, but may be easier.

Thanks again...

Nice interior. Was the Joshua Tree kit hard to align with the individual panels? Did you have it professionally done? If so,
how much labor did they charge you?

Your dash looks really well done, especially
the storage bin door in the center console, where a misaligned
wood sticker would really look bad (because of the even gap
all around the door).

Also, what is the best pricing/supplier that you found on this kit?

Thanks.

the only interior mods I have done to my 97 GLE are the chrome gauge rins, chrome cefiro kickplates, and the chrome infiniti i-30 interior door release handles

since the exterior trim is in chrome and i have 18" chrome wheels, i stuck with chrome interior accents too

oh yeah, i have a chrome sunglass holder that i got from sun glass hut for my oakley's

All those would most likely be better suited to a darker color interior. If I were you I'd stick w/ something that would complement the beige interior as I'm in the same situation as you but I have an SE w/ beige cloth.

Hmm that wood just doesn't look right to me with beige interior. Maybe if it was a darker wood and not so redish.

I was thinking something along the lines of tan.

But anything to get rid of the black.

I have a beige interior, I personally like it, but maybe i have just been converted, I am using tan as the base color, and then adding black and silver to different parts. Looks good IMO.

Here is a pic of what my interior sort of looks like, and will in about a month, it is someone elses, sorry, i dont' know your name He has a black max, maybe Ravq.

But anyway

vin: I installed the kit myself, it was pretty simple, just need to make sure the pieces are warm so they'll flex and conform to the dash properly. I got it direct from Joshua Tree, this is the kit with real walnut, so it was more expensive than their other kits... I believe I paid like $194 shipped.

Justin: yep, the black shift boot is stock. But it matches the black steering wheel, so I think it looks best that way.

Thanks everyone for the compliments.

BTW, whoever owns the beige interior with carbon fiber (Ravq?)... seriously, take that MAXIMA badge off of your friggin dash. No joke. The vinyl steering wheel cover is one thing, but damn, oy vay with the ugly badge on the dash!

Well, i don't get frustrated, i just try to help. You may be new, you may be old. But part of .org manners is to not flame so viciously. Who are you to tell him to do something with his car, did father Nissan die and make you the Maxima Master??? Highly doubt it. Leave the guy alone, I like his interior, besides the steering wheel cover. Do i even concentrate on the steering wheel??? Not at all.

There are some things i don't like about your car, but I keep them to myself, and if it came up and you asked for opinions on your car, i would tell you with respect, not "seriously, take that MAXIMA badge off of your friggin dash. No joke. The vinyl steering wheel cover is one thing, but damn, oy vay with the ugly badge on the dash!"

just look for what you like and concentrate on that, nobody wants to hear rips and negative stuff

Trust me, if I could figure out how to get the navi and from a Pathfinder to work in my max and convert my A/C to automatic, I would have done this already.

Anybody know how to get a Cefiro Wagon FSB????

I have the chrome gauge rings with my tan interior. I'm also considering a Carbon Fiber Dash Kit. thebigsadler has this on his Maxima and I think it looks fine with the tan interior.

Reconsider silver on tan...

I must admit, I was hesitant about doing the silver on tan look like most of you - but I took the chance and it looks great! Wouldn't have it any other way. It still looks very luxurious, if not more then before (the half/half wood trim ). Pic is below. Now tell me that doesn't look good just need to change shifter/brake.

BTW, it's painted - which in my opinion looks 100x hotter then any dash kits when done right. Thanks to BenBlanco for the tips.

I have a tan leather, and I would get a whole dash kit if you get one. It will be hard to get pieces to match the I30 stuff.

What paint did you use for that? And how much clear coat did you use? I've been thinking of painting mine silver, but I wasn't sure how it would look. Also, my dash seems to be darker than yours (my dash is darker than the tan on the doors and the seats..)

Don't ever tell anyone not to express opinions, especially when your argument is "nobody wants to hear rips and negative stuff." Go to China or Cuba if you like places where you're told what you can and cannot say.

I think he more or less meant If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. There is a difference between an opinion and a blatent flame.

I agree with you, Spencer, but that doesn't make it ok. I'm not trying to be overly dramatic, but the "If you don't have anything nice to say..." is crap. It's the first step to real problems, things like conformity and communism and other freedom-robbing ideas.

I'm not saying everyone should just express disgust and hatred, I'm saying we shouldn't be told to shush for expressing unpopular or not-nice ideas.

Hmm, interesting point. I understand what you are saying but I don't feel that it's the first step to conformity and communism. Conformity, in my opinion, would be agreeing just because everyone else is agreeing - or because you are being told to agree. And communism - I just won't even go there. I think all he was trying to do was avoid the idiots that step in just to tell someone that there idea is sh*t. Maybe that's called as*holism? lol

are you talking about the maxima thing? It doesn't look horrible, but I would remove it for the safety of my passenger. I would hate for the ER staff to know that he/she had a head injury in a maxima(imprinted on their forehead)

Looks like it turned out really well. Glad to be of service. I recently did the interior door handle frames now I need to find a new silver shift **** because mine seems to be falling apart, don't ask me how. Let me know if you need any tips on doing the side and upper vents or any other pieces. Anyway, I agree that painting the dash pieces looks a lot cleaner than the adhesive dash kits due to the fact that there's a possiblity you could see the outlines of the factory dash pieces underneath. So with the beige interior, you have the choice of the wood dash kit or painting it silver or maybe a glossy black? I would say the real aluminum dash kit would work, but I hope that underneath is beige or black and not already wood because the factory outlines would show and wood under aluminum might not look clean. As for the MAXIMA badge on the dash, its not that bad. Don't take anything personal from anyone. I've came a long way from criticism on my car and I guess I can say its whats needed to make my car what it is today. If not, I'd probably still be riding around on my chrome 17's, not 20's, but little 17's. .
